Job Title: Production Logistics Coordinator
Location: Marble Hill, GA (on site, 5 days a week)
Are you a master organizer who thrives at the intersection of customer service and production? As our Production Logistics Coordinator, you will serve as the primary point of contact for plant logistics for 3 North Georgia plants, ensuring our products move seamlessly from the production floor into the hands of our customers (primary location is Marble Hill, with infrequent travel to Chatsworth and Whitestone).
We are looking for a proactive problem-solver who can handle day-to-day coordination and step up when things don't go according to plan.
What You’ll Do
Be the Logistics Hub: Serve as the direct line of communication between Customer Service, Production, customers, and carriers. You will inform managers of urgent orders and coordinate directly with logistics providers regarding readiness times.
Coordinate Shipments & Schedules: Manage truck pickup schedules, prepare daily open order reports for production meetings, and allocate customer orders for the daily production schedule.
Manage Dock & Rail Operations: Collect bulk truck and rail weights, process Bills of Lading (BOL) for rail shipments (ensuring they are printed before plant release), and finalize orders. You will also manage dock appointments, ensuring orders transfer correctly from SAP to our Transportation Management System (TMS), troubleshooting the system as needed.
Monitor & Plan Capacity: Use SAP daily to monitor plant capacity. Your insights will enable forward planning for product demand and support Customer Service with accurate order entry.
Drive Process Improvement: Track and communicate assigned KPIs, map out new procedures, and update existing ones. You will report to upper management on logistics issues and opportunities, recommending and leading corrective actions.
Collaborate & Problem-Solve: Work with packaging and customer service teams to approve alternative materials (like different bags or pallets) to keep orders moving and prevent frustrating delays.
Ensure Business Continuity: Train other Site Logistics Coordinators on processes and procedures, traveling to other locations as necessary to keep our network aligned.
Wrap Up the Month: Review the shipped-but-not-processed report at the end of each month and process the balance of completed shipments.
What You Bring to the Team
Experience & Education: A High School diploma is required, backed by 2 to 3 years of experience in logistics, production, or customer service support within a manufacturing environment.
Tech-Savvy: You know your way around ERP business systems in a manufacturing setting (SAP experience is highly preferred!). You are also extensively knowledgeable in Google Suite and Microsoft Excel.
Dedication: periodically check emails after hours in case of emergency situations
Sharp Analytical Skills: You can read the data, anticipate bottlenecks, and make smart, quick decisions.
Exceptional Organization: You are highly organized, capable of multitasking, and know how to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Communication Skills: You bring a professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills, making it easy for you to engage with everyone from plant floor operators to external logistics providers and upper management.
The Work Environment & Physical Demands
While you are highly connected to the manufacturing floor, your day-to-day environment will primarily be a standard office setting.
Daily Movement: Expect to spend about 80% of your time sitting and navigating systems, and 20% walking or standing.
Physical Requirements: You will need manual dexterity and keyboarding skills to manage our ERP and TMS platforms, as well as the ability to drive for occasional travel to other sites.
