Position Overview:
The Nonprofit Tax Team is a specialized group within our firm that manages the unique tax needs of tax-exempt organizations, including social service and cultural entities, educational institutions, trade associations, and private foundations. We are looking for a Manager to join our team. This is an opportunity to enhance your technical and leadership skills and advance your career with a thriving industry group.
As a Manager, you will be responsible for the "flow" and quality of complex filings. Success in this seat means managing client expectations and timelines effectively -- ensuring we maintain our standards for quality even during peak-filing cycles.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the preparation/review of tax-exempt filings (Forms 990, 990-PF, 990-T) and related filings.
• Champion a coaching culture by providing clear, timely feedback, and technical mentorship to Seniors and Associates.
• Lead with a client-first mindset, proactively anticipating the needs of tax-exempt entities and serving as a high-level strategic advisor.
• Perform complex tax research and draft technical memoranda, serving as a firm-wide resource for specialized nonprofit tax issues.
• Manage timelines effectively across multiple complex engagements, ensuring team momentum remains high during peak filing cycles.
• Generate opportunities with new and existing clients by building solid professional relationships and engaging in community and civic associations.
• Communicate industry developments both internally and externally, contributing to the firm’s "Always Getting Better" mindset through continuous knowledge sharing.
• Other duties as assigned within the scope of the practice.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Masters and/or JD are a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years in public accounting, with a heavy emphasis on nonprofit tax compliance and consulting.
• Expertise in tax research and writing with an eye for detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to lead team members through deadlines.
• A track record of independent problem-solving and a commitment to professional behavior, communication, and technical skill development.
