Tempus is seeking a highly qualified undergraduate Next Data & Operations Summer Analyst to work with us for the summer of 2025. We are looking for people who can change the world.

As a Summer Intern at Tempus, you will:
- Apply skills and knowledge learned in the classroom to on-the-job experiences
- Work on comprehensive, value-added project(s) that help enhance the fields of science and technology
- Collaborate with teams/colleagues in a fast-paced environment
- Gain professional development & build relationships with peers from across the country
Anticipated Summer Project(s):
- Project #1: Support performance improvements for a developed product platform
- Next Oncology’s care pathway intelligence platform utilizes AI to identify patient care gaps. As we expand into different cancer types and biomarkers; incremental improvements to the operational documentation, workflow, etc are needed.
- Subprojects to this effort could consist of; identifying trends in false positives and solutioning improvements, discovery and development of provider insights into patient outcomes of care gaps.
- A targeted multi-week subproject will be selected based on what is most interesting to the intern and what the current needs of the business are.
- Project #2: Support in scaling/development of a novel proof of concept product
- Next Oncology’s Next-ID program launched in late summer of 2024 as a proof-of-concept product. In 2025 this program will become more robust through expansion of both offerings and site network. Therefore we are looking for a qualified individual to improve and execute tasks related but not limited to;
- Creation and improvement of provider and life science partner analytics to provide deeper insights into patient impact
- Creation of a more sophisticated notification workflow for eligible patients
- Scalability improvements of current and upcoming data operations
- Improvements to any of these operational tasks could result in an overarching multiweek project
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree (undergraduate completion in summer of 2024) in an analytical or healthcare-related field with a strong interest in oncology, cancer genomics, molecular biology, and/or improving patient outcomes
- Experience with SQL (intermediate), Excel (basic or intermediate), and Looker (basic or intermediate)
- Highly organized and systematic, superb attention to detail, and ability to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a variety of settings and media.
- Strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Google Suite and Gmail, preferred.
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with others in a fast-paced environment is critical. Be ready to fly the plane as you’re still building it!
Additional Details:
- You will spend 8 or 10 weeks working in our Chicago office. The internship will be a hybrid, onsite 3 days/week with the option to work remotely the remaining days.
- The program will start in early June and run through August.
- A competitive hourly wage will be provided for the summer employment and a relocation bonus to help offset some of the relocation costs and resources to help you find housing.

The expected salary range below is applicable if the role is performed from [Illinois] and may vary for other locations. Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits, depending on the position.
