Bon Appétit and Epicurious seek a motivated Newsletter Editor to guide and edit the brand’s newsletter portfolio. The ideal candidate is digitally savvy, detail-oriented, and has a deep understanding of the current newsletter landscape, as well as food media and culinary arts trends. This editor will play a key role in how our food brands connect with audiences through their inboxes. The ideal candidate will have a clear point of view on newsletter strategy, strong voice in their writing and editing, and the ability to closely collaborate with our writers, editors, and audience teams. Prior experience with Sailthru, Letterhead, and Iterable is a plus, as is experience writing and editing newsletter copy. This role reports to the Site Director, and is based in our NYC office (Monday through Thursday in office; Fridays work from home).
Primary Responsibilities:
Select stories, write and edit copy, produce, and curate our daily, weekly, and specialized newsletters.
Write copy for additional materials (social, video, events, marketing, etc.) that helps promote and market our newsletter products
Build specialized newsletters for feature stories, tentpoles, covers, and commercial campaigns as needed.
Work closely with internal teams such as Social, Cooking, Culture, Restaurants, and Commerce to identify and support newsletter content opportunities that will drive site traffic and paid subscriptions.
Develop ways to bring Bon Appétit’s extensive archive of content to newsletter audiences.
Review audience data on newsletters to identify areas for improvement in terms of engagement and key revenue conversion metrics; use data and insights to inform curation of relevant content.
Take measured risks to craft new processes, propose new ways of working, and engage audiences in new ways.
Run experiments and share insights so your wins can have greater impact
Utilize Audience recommendations on newsletters, optimizing daily sends, A/B testing, hardgating, etc.
Pitch, write, and edit articles across Bon Appétit and Epicurious as needed, including content refreshes.
Propose ideas and pitch opportunities in team and cross-functional meetings.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
4–6+ years of relevant digital media experience
Sound editorial judgment and a strong, confident, clear voice as a writer
A self-starting team player, detail-oriented, efficient, organized, and able to problem-solve and multitask
Demonstrated ability to analyze and incorporate data into decision making
A systems-oriented work style with a proven ability to multitask across multiple high-priority projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Experience proactively and effectively communicating and collaborating across departments and levels within a team
Comfort with, and interest, in appearing on video and audio
The expected base salary range for this position is from $80,000-$100,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
