WGAL-TV, Hearst Television’s NBC affiliate in the Harrisburg-Lancaster-Lebanon-York, PA market has an opening for a dynamic full-time Newscast Director for our station’s live, fast-paced newscasts. The ideal candidate will leadthe technical and operational aspects of our live newscasts and daily productions.  Some prior industry or relevant military experience will be considered. This role combines the responsibilities of both Technical Direction and Studio Operations, requiring broad knowledge of broadcast production activities and strong hands-on skills with studio equipment. You will report to the Operations Manager.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide creative input and collaborate with producers, directors, and production crew
  • Call and punch newscasts using Grass Valley Ignite automation with precision and accuracy 
  • Studio operations include, but not limited to, robotic camera operations, moving set pieces, lighting, and working directly with on-air talent.
  • Operate and troubleshoot robotic cameras and related broadcast systems
  • Use Windows-based computer software for video playback and recording preparation
  • Must be willing to work schedules that include early morning hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Applicants must be reliable, punctual and have dependable transportation
  • Excellent attention to details; strong communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with live or broadcast technical directing a plus
  • Knowledge of or experience with production control automation systems
  • Experience with ENPS, VIZ RT graphics, Bitcentral video playback
  • Knowledge of television audio systems and robotic camera systems will be beneficial
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 15 feet and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure
  • Related military experience will be considered

 

Education:

 

  • Related experience and /or training considered as well as a combination of education and experience.
