  • Direct live and pre-recorded newscasts using production switchers, graphics
    systems, and automation tools.
  • Collaborate with producers, anchors, technical crew, and newsroom staff to
    execute the editorial vision of each newscast.
  • Operate and troubleshoot control room equipment including switchers, audio
    boards, graphics systems, and video servers.
  • Maintain the visual and technical quality of the broadcast, ensuring all elements
    are timed and executed correctly.
  • Attend pre-show meetings and provide direction to studio and control room
    staff.
  • Implement creative transitions, camera shots, and effects to enhance storytelling.
  • Respond quickly to breaking news and last-minute changes with professionalism
    and precision.
  • Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and station policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience directing newscasts in a professional broadcast environment.
  • Proficiency with production automation systems (e.g., Ross OverDrive, Grass Valley Ignite, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of studio and control room operations.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work any assigned shift including days, nights, weekends, holidays; and extended hours.
