Primary Responsibilities
- Report and write original news stories under deadline
- Develop clear, fact-based coverage informed by breaking news and editorial priorities
- Conduct research, verify information, and maintain reliable sources
- Monitor news developments and respond quickly to breaking news assignments
- File timely updates as stories evolve while maintaining accuracy
- Collaborate with the News Editor throughout drafting, editing, and revisions
- Incorporate editorial feedback to strengthen clarity, structure, and accuracy
- Uphold standards for accuracy, fairness, and responsible journalism
Experience & Requirements
- Background in journalism, communications, political science, or a related field preferred
- Strong news writing and reporting skills
- Ability to meet frequent, fast-paced deadlines
- Solid research, fact-checking, and source development abilities
- Sound editorial judgment with strong attention to accuracy
- Ability to work collaboratively in a newsroom environment
