Hearst Television is seeking a News Producer to join our Washington, D.C. News Bureau. In this role, you’ll help deliver major national political stories and meaningful local angles to our 28 newsrooms and digital platforms. You’ll coordinate coverage, create and edit multiplatform content, and keep stations informed as stories develop — all while working at the center of national politics.
This is an in-person role based in Washington, D.C., reporting to the Deputy Bureau Chief. The work requires close collaboration with bureau journalists, station newsrooms, photographers, technical teams, and Hearst partners, particularly during breaking news and deadline-driven coverage.
What You'll Do
Plan and execute daily and breaking-news coverage for Hearst Television stations, combining strong editorial judgment, production skills, and logistical coordination to deliver accurate, timely, and locally relevant journalism across broadcast and digital platforms, while seeking and incorporating enterprise content elements from our national data, investigative, and consumer teams and our Hearst partners.
Responsibilities
Coverage Planning & Station Coordination —Plan daily and breaking-news coverage, communicate updates to station newsrooms, and balance station requests with bureau priorities.
Live Production & Logistics —Coordinate multiple daily live shots and production logistics with reporters, photographers, producers, and technical teams to meet deadlines.
Writing, Editing & Multiplatform Content —Produce, write, edit, and adapt accurate, clear, and impartial content for broadcast and digital platforms.
Enterprise Journalism & Collaboration —Use reporting, research, data, and resources from Hearst teams and partners to strengthen coverage and local relevance.
Technology, AI & Workflow —Use newsroom and approved AI-enabled tools to improve workflow while independently verifying facts, sourcing, context, and final content.
What We’re Looking For
1–2 years of experience in a local television newsroom, Washington bureau, or comparable deadline-driven journalism environment.
Working knowledge of newscast production and the day-to-day needs of local newsrooms.
Ability to make sound editorial decisions and communicate clearly during breaking news and rapidly changing coverage.
Experience collaborating with reporters, photographers, producers, and other newsroom partners.
Strong writing, copy-editing, organizational, and multiplatform production skills.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines reliably in a fast-paced newsroom.
Political reporting or political coverage experience is helpful but not required.
Related military experience will be considered.

Salary
The estimated salary range for this role is $68,000 - $72,000. The actual salary offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, and other factors permitted by law. The salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
