At Generac Power Systems, an NPI (New Product Introduction) Specialist plays a key role in bringing new products to market by managing the materials, suppliers, and processes required for successful launch. The role is part of the company’s Strategic Global Sourcing and Purchasing teams, working closely with engineering, production, and quality to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency.

Essential Duties:

  • Project management of new product materials, including RFQs (Request for Quotations), tooling, PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and transfer of purchasing responsibility to production.
  • Supplier management: Negotiating costs and timelines, ensuring on-time delivery (OTD) during prototype and development phases (Gate 1–4), and managing supplier performance.
  • Cost control: Using Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) tools to analyze supplier quotes, update and maintain Costed Bills of Materials (CBOM), and manage standard costs.
  • Quality and compliance: Managing PPAP orders, quality inspections, engineering sign-offs, and ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) that affect new parts.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Partnering with the Strategic Global Sourcing team and other departments to align on product platform value chain deliverables.
  • Tactical purchasing: Expediting materials, managing purchase orders, resolving receiving/purchasing issues, and facilitating technical design reviews with suppliers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, or related field
  • 1-3yrs experience in procurement, sourcing, or product development; familiarity with automotive or industrial manufacturing processes is beneficial. 

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong project management, negotiation, and analytical skills; proficiency in SAP ERP, Microsoft Office, and inventory/ERP systems.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
