Summary Generated by Built In

What You Will Do

Lead the transition of electronics, firmware, and electro-mechanical subsystems from development to manufacturing, ensuring readiness for both in-house and contract manufacturing environments

Develop, maintain and control electronics manufacturing documentation (schematics, wiring diagrams, test protocols, configuration/firmware flash procedures, SOPs)

Identify and document design improvements required for production scaling during DV (Design Validation) and PV (Production Validation) phases, with a focus on sensors, motor drivers, PCBAs, and wiring harnesses

Plan and execute pilot/pre-production builds to validate electronics and firmware readiness for volume manufacturing

Develop and validate test jigs, fixtures, and bench-test acceptance criteria for electronic subsystems (e.g., motor current/torque tests, sensor calibration checks, IPC/CAN bus communication tests)

Identify and close gaps in electronics design, firmware configuration, or process that may impact CM production (e.g., baud rate mismatches, firmware label/threshold errors, sensor IQC criteria misalignment)

Support supplier onboarding activities including FAI, PPAP, and process audits for electronic components and assemblies

Perform hands-on mechanical assembly and integration work where it intersects with electronics (e.g., mounting sensors/PCBAs, motor and harness installation, torque-critical fastening) to support builds and troubleshooting

Lead on-the-ground troubleshooting of electronics, wiring, and firmware issues, and implement corrective actions

Act as the technical liaison between internal and external partners (Production, R&D, Firmware/Software, Supply Chain, Quality, Suppliers) for smooth collaboration and issue resolution

Participate in and execute ECN/ECO/ECR processes for electronics and firmware changes, ensuring timely communication and implementation across stakeholders

Maintain and update technical documentation including wiring diagrams, firmware/software version histories, service manuals, and BOMs

Drive initiatives to improve manufacturability of electronic assemblies, reduce cost, and enhance quality

Analyze build and field data (e.g., sensor failure rates, motor test results, firmware defect trends) to identify trends and implement design or process improvements

What You Will Need

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field

3-5 years of hands-on experience in NPI or Manufacturing Engineering with a focus on electronics/embedded systems, preferably in high-mix, low-to-medium volume environments

Proven track record of transferring electronic products/subsystems from development to both in-house and contract manufacturing

Strong technical expertise in electronics, embedded/firmware systems, sensor integration, motor control, and wiring/harness assemblies

Proficient in interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and reading/debugging firmware or embedded logs

Familiar with communication protocols and interfaces common in robotics/embedded systems (e.g., CAN bus, UART, I2C/SPI)

Experience with pilot builds, test jig/fixture development, and process qualification for electronic assemblies

Experience with supplier qualifications (PPAP, FAI, audits) for PCBAs, sensors, motors, and cable harnesses

Working knowledge of change management systems (ECN/ECO/ECR) and configuration/firmware version control

Strong root cause analysis capabilities using structured problem-solving methodologies (PFMEA, 5-Why, 8D, Ishikawa) applied to electronics/firmware failures

Comfortable working on the production floor, using bench equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, current/torque test rigs), and collaborating with cross-functional engineering, operations, and supplier teams

Basic mechanical aptitude for hands-on assembly/disassembly, fastening, and integration tasks (hand tools, torque drivers) in support of electro-mechanical builds and troubleshooting

Good to have: experience with AGVs, AMRs, or similar autonomous robotic systems, and familiarity with IT/network infrastructure basics relevant to factory floor systems

If you have a passion for product development, enjoy working with cross-functional teams, and have experience in the sectors we serve, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity. Our work environment is dynamic and collaborative, where you'll work alongside a team of experts who share your enthusiasm for building robots.
