Role: New Product Development Manager - MyProtein

NPD Manager (Core Sports Nutrition):
Reporting to Head of NPD, NPD Manager methodically sets out NPD strategy for Myprotein’s core sports nutrition range, building out sports nutrition supplement products and sub-ranges, driving incremental revenue growth via innovation, continuous quality improvement and margin maximization. Propels business into new product categories and solutions by exceptional market expertise; championing lateral thinking and influencing key stakeholders. Highly effective at delivering NPD with others – managing a team of NPD Technologist who handle hands-on application work. The role will involve high degree of problem solving, talent development and project management.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to North America General Manager, the NPD Manager methodically sets out NPD strategy for Myprotein's core sports nutrition range, building out sports nutrition supplement products and sub-ranges, driving incremental revenue growth via innovation, continuous quality improvement, and margin maximization
- Propels business into new product categories and solutions by exceptional market expertise; championing lateral thinking and influencing key stakeholders
- Highly effective at delivering NPD with others - managing a team of NPD Technologist who handle hands-on application work
The role will involve high degree of problem solving, talent development and project management - Managing a team of NPD Technologists focusing on Core Sports nutrition (e.g., ready-to-mix powder products aimed at performance/body-composition improvement)
- Setting-out and delivering NPD strategy for Core NPD to meet agreed KPIs across multiple sales streams
- Project managing from concept to launch, meeting delivery deadlines accurately
- Managing high volume of complex projects, prioritizing well and tactically assigning resource
- Tracking performance of all managed categories/regions/products and making strategic NPD decisions based on these
- Leading methodical concept & formulation development, considering internal data, nutritional knowledge/evidence-based practice, market research, commercial aspects, technical feasibility and food law compliance
- Aligning with the wider territory/marketing/brand teams to collectively drive the innovation across the business
- Managing suppliers - working to technical, operational and commercial constraints
- Developing talent - supporting other teams to bring products to successful launch, championing professional development and true innovation
- Frequently assessing and reviewing the NPD process and providing recommendations for improvements to elevate quality and speed to market
- Keeping up to date with latest technologies, trends and research
Qualifications:
- Exceptional understanding of the sports nutrition industry and supplement formulation
- Nutrition/Food technology degree or equivalent
- Minimum 5-year experience in NPD (or equivalent)
- Experience in managing a small team
- Understanding of NPD stage/gate process
- Proven track record of business growth via NPD planning & execution
- Enthusiastic and proactive personality, excellent communication skills, working well as part of a team. Experience working across satellite offices preferred
- Able to work well under pressure and deliver to strict deadlines
- Problem solving, lateral thinking and creativity
Benefits:
