Job Title:Applications Team Lead – Tire & Silanes

You will collaborate closely with our technical marketing team and customers' tire technologists to tackle critical performance challenges and push the boundaries of what's possible in tire technology. Responsibilities Include:

Apply breadth and depth of knowledge in technical area, write technical (project summary) reports, utilize state of the art technology to achieve project goals; demonstrate statistical acumen in handling data and information.

Lead a part of the tire technology team segment

Collaborate cross-functionally with technology project teams in the design and development of innovative novel performance additives for the tire and rubber industry according to agreed-upon milestones.

Provide technical insight into structure/property/performance relationships of silane and other additives in tire and rubber compounds.

Lead design and oversee experimentation to predict and explain observed performance phenomena and/or elucidate mechanistic understanding of tire chemistry formulations with standard and proprietary testing procedures.

Identify and incorporate external tire and rubber technology developments that provide synergistic benefits to Momentive products to meet customer performance requirements. Translate established technologies into new market segments.

Leverage and help to develop strong tire laboratory applications capabilities and leading-edge evaluation and characterization methods to assess the value and performance of Momentive product technologies in tread compounds.

Independently plan, lead, direct and execute multiple projects of substantial business and financial impact. Develop solutions to complex/conflicting customer and business needs.

Communicate program deliverables to broader business team including global technology and Business leaders. Ability to effectively engage non-tech/cross-functional audiences.

Develop and leverage a global network in functional area within business; recognized as expert in broad technical area. Foster technical knowledge and understanding of business, providing technical insight beyond own core technical area. Effectively train, teach, and mentor other team members, scientists, and technicians.

Demonstrate detailed understanding of customer/market/product portfolio. Interact with customers / suppliers. Represent MPM and present research findings at trade shows, symposia and conferences.

Embrace a safety mind-set into day-to-day work. Active engagement, team support, and leadership in all site activities, including EHS, ISO, compliance.

Generate IP (journals, patents, trade secrets), partner with IP analysts to perform landscape analysis to have strong grasp on IP literature in project domains.

Qualifications:
The following are required for the role

BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science/Polymer Science with at least 10 years of experience OR Masters with 8 years of experience OR Ph.D. in with 5 years of experience

Demonstrated background in determining chemistry reaction mechanisms and structure/performance relationships.

Knowledge of materials used in passenger car and truck tires.
-
Hands-on and/or first-hand experience in tire rubber compounding, tire rubber testing, and/or tire testing.

Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to contribute to new product development projects within a matrixed organization.

Proficient in written and verbal communications to leadership, peers, direct reports, and external customers.

Completes other duties as assigned
The following are preferred for this position:

Experience in managing a technical team.
-
Experience in managing a materials science and/or chemical laboratory.

Track record of success in bringing new products from conception through customer approval and commercialization, preferably in the tire industry
- Experience in compound development for passenger car and truck tires.

Familiarity with silanes and advanced silica compounding for tire applications.

Experience working directly with customers on technical projects, troubleshooting new product development, and/or solving product quality concerns.

Demonstration of scientific understanding and methodology of Design of Experiments.

Experience in CAPEX project management.

Regularly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. The ability to wear personal protective equipment, and the ability to pass a fit test and wear a respirator is required for most positions.

What We Offer:Base Pay Range: $107,500 - $157,850
The actual salary offered is determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, skill sets, and geography. Local geographic pay differentials may not be reflected in the above pay range and will be discussed with you by a member of the HR team when applicable.
