New Product Introduction Engineer

The Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced and versatile New Product Introduction Engineer to join our growing team in San Luis Obispo!

In this role, your primary responsibility will be to drive the successful scaleup of products/processes from Development to Manufacturing utilizing a Stage Gate Process. You will use your skills/experience to influence product design teams to improve design and or processes used for manufacturability, while ensuring the highest levels of quality. Achieving this goal will require the use of collaboration, influence, and interpersonal skills to interface with all functions across the organization.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Production cell team to ensure Manufacturing Readiness of the new product portfolio. Engage with the Manufacturing Engineers, Supervisors, and Technicians to drive the successful transition of products from early development to product release.
  • Manage multiple projects across the product portfolio.
  • Collaborate, share and be ready to learn in a team that partners closely with its customers.
  • Serve as a core team member for assigned NPI Projects as the liaison between Development Engineering and Operations, pulling products to market.
  • Work closely with the New Product Development to drive and execute improvements/solutions to help the team meet the product design and customer requirements and stage gate commitments, while keeping focus on safety and quality.
  • Report through and learn from the current Sr. NPI Engineer on a daily basis.
  • Develop Manufacturing Plans for assigned projects. Topics include selection of manufacturing equipment, raw and finished goods material planning, chemical or material waste plan, ramp/capacity planning, cost roadmap, etc.
  • Drive Improvement Projects (yield, process capability, etc.) to maximize Gross Margin and Predictability.
  • Prepare Process Documentation to support Product Launch and or Manufacturing.
  • Manage customer samples and Product Qualification builds. Work with Operations team to provide special instructions as required.
  • Assist in directing and controlling processes in accordance with defined policies and procedures. Assists with analyses and audits processes to make recommendations on such items as safety, quality, cost, waste reductions, and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' related technical experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Gas Purification systems and/or international high-pressure vessel and manifold codes for global certification is a plus.
  • Experience leading Lean/Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement Manufacturing projects and implementation.
  • Must be a strong-willed independent performer, as well as a collaborative and supportive teammate.
  • Familiarity of UHP gas Purification systems is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP ERP system, specifically for BOM's and Routings and other documentation.
  • Motivated and self-directed team player with good interpersonal skills. Must have ability to reach out, communicate and influence personnel at all levels within the organization.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Strong technical skills (i.e. welding, fabrication, wiring, software, electro-mechanical design, etc.) to help improve processes, identify any gaps, and the ability to work with subject experts towards a resolution.
  • Ability to orchestrate and prioritize multiple activities at once to accomplish divisional goals.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of the development process. Constantly working to ensure no surprises for any teams or Management.
  • Actively pulling products into manufacturing, while ensuring process and quality capability.
  • Managing tasks to ensure stage gate dates and other commitments are met.
  • Creating data driven NPI Plans to ensure long term portfolio success.
  • Feedback from your cross-functional teammates across the company on your ability to effectively collaborate and add value.

  • Salary Range: $100,000-125,000 base. Actual offered salary will be based on candidate experience.
