The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) Radiologic Technologist Fellowship Training Program is designed for licensed new graduate Radiologic Technologists transitioning from student to novice imaging professional in a specialized musculoskeletal healthcare environment.

HSS is committed to supporting early-career imaging professionals through a structured learning experience that combines hands-on clinical training, mentorship, and professional development. This program prepares new technologists to build the technical expertise and clinical judgment required to succeed in a high-volume orthopedic imaging environment.

The Radiologic Technologist Fellowship Training Program is a structured four to six-month program from the date of hire. Trainees work directly under the supervision of the Professional Development team and experienced radiologic technologist preceptors, receiving individualized clinical instruction and competency-based training.

Fellows will gain experience supporting diagnostic imaging services, including musculoskeletal radiography and orthopedic imaging procedures. Department placement and rotations may vary based on operational needs and learning opportunities.

The clinical orientation process includes progressive learning objectives, structured competencies, and ongoing feedback designed to support the transition from student to independent practicing technologist.

Fellows will receive regular evaluations and guidance from clinical preceptors, the Professional Development team, and departmental leadership to ensure skill development, patient safety, and clinical confidence.

Scheduled program sessions throughout the Fellowship provide opportunities for knowledge development, mentorship, peer support, and professional growth. The goal of the program is to prepare Fellows to independently perform radiologic procedures while delivering exceptional patient care aligned with HSS standards.
