Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic New Business Manager to lead our business development team in Georgetown, KY. The successful candidate will oversee the New Business Specialist team and drive the acquisition of new business opportunities. This role requires a leader with a deep understanding of the trading company business model, specifically within the automotive sector. The Manager will be responsible for high-level strategy, maintaining robust relationships with multiple OEMs and bridging communication gaps through bilingual proficiency.

What You'll Do

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to identify and secure new business opportunities within a trading company framework.

  • Team Management: Supervise, mentor, and manage the performance of the New Business Specialist(s), ensuring alignment with company goals.

  • OEM Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with key stakeholders at multiple OEMs, specifically Toyota and Honda, ensuring compliance with their specific supplier requirements.

  • Project Oversight: Oversee the entire lifecycle of new business projects from initial RFQ to mass production launch, ensuring seamless execution by the team.

  • Market Analysis: Direct market research initiatives to identify trends, supply chain gaps, and trading opportunities, utilizing data to drive decision-making.

  • Bilingual Communication: Facilitate complex negotiations and meetings requiring fluency in both Japanese and English; act as a bridge between international suppliers and local customers.

  • Reporting: Prepare executive-level presentations and reports on business development activities, market conditions, and team performance.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Lead collaboration between sales, purchasing, logistics, and other departments to ensure successful project implementation.

What You Need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; a focus in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.

  • Language Skills: Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English (written and verbal) is mandatory.

  • Trading Company Experience: Significant proven experience working within a trading company environment (similar to Toyota Tsusho America), with a specific track record of obtaining new business in this sector.

  • OEM Experience: Extensive experience working with multiple automotive OEMs, specifically Toyota and Honda, with a strong understanding of their respective purchasing policies and cultures.

  • Management Experience: Proven experience in a managerial role, with a history of successfully leading teams and developing talent.

  • Analytical Skills: Advanced ability to interpret complex market data, financial models, and supply chain metrics.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed to meet business objectives.

  • Master’s degree (MBA) or equivalent, preferred.

  • Experience with import/export regulations and Incoterms.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, preferred.
