What you'll do
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Fortinet switches, FortiGate firewalls, Ciena routers, and Layer 2/Layer 3 switching and routing environments.
Deploy and support IP/MPLS connectivity for engineering test beds, virtual machines, RF systems, demonstrations, and customer or vendor testing activities.
Manage VLANs, subnets, DHCP scopes, routing and firewall policies, IP address assignments, and accurate IPAM and network documentation.
Lead network turn-ups, infrastructure changes, lab expansions, equipment moves, rack installation, cabling, labeling, and environment readiness activities.
Diagnose complex connectivity, routing, switching, firewall, performance, and MPLS service issues using packet captures, logs, monitoring systems, and vendor tools.
Monitor network health using Zabbix, Grafana, Syslog/Loki, and vendor platforms; improve live operational visibility into traffic, activity, and infrastructure events.
Develop scripts or automation that improve operational efficiency, repeatability, configuration management, and recovery readiness.
Collaborate with Network Engineering, RF Engineering, Virtualization, Systems Operations, Test, Validation, and Lab Operations teams; participate in incident response, change management, and maintenance activities.
What you'll need to get the job done
7-15 years of relevant network engineering experience, including substantial hands-on work in lab, test, telecom, data centre, or similarly complex technical environments.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet switching, VLANs, IPv4/IPv6, subnetting, routing protocols, firewalls, DHCP, IP addressing, and network security practices.
Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot multi-layer network issues and drive incidents through root-cause analysis, resolution, and documentation.
Experience with command-line tools, packet analysis, logs, monitoring and visualization platforms, and configuration or recovery procedures.
Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Networking, Telecommunications, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) registration and Reliability Status clearance must be in place by the first day of the engagement.
Strong written and verbal communication, careful documentation habits, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, shared lab environment.
