Position Overview

The Network / System Administrator II supports Special Access Program activities by organizing, installing, and supporting government computer systems, including local area networks, wide area networks, network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems. This role also supports network modeling, infrastructure upgrade planning, and technical support for computer users, while providing day-to-day support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information, and Special Access Program activities.

Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork and System Administration
  • Organize, install, and support government computer systems, including LANs, WANs, network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems.
  • Execute day-to-day management and operations of systems and networks.
  • Help architect, design, and analyze network models.
  • Participate in decisions regarding future hardware or software purchases to upgrade the organization’s infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support to computer users to help resolve user problems as needed.
  • Operate under supervision.
Operations and Maintenance
  • Manage COTS and GOTS products to collect, display, and remediate automated system security and system operations and performance functions and metrics.
  • Follow Operations and Maintenance checklists to maintain services, including daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly checklists.
  • Build Tactics, Techniques, and Processes and Standard Operating Procedures associated with service checklists.
Security Monitoring and Incident Response
  • Operate monitoring tools and capabilities with the enterprise security information and event management system.
  • Create and tailor complex event alarms, rules, and summary reports.
  • Assist in analyzing technical risk, upon request, for emerging cybersecurity tools and processes.
  • Work as part of a security incident response team as needed.

QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience; or Associate degree and 5 years of relevant experience; or 7 years of total relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience
  • 3–5 years of related experience.
  • SAP experience.
Certifications
  • IAT Level II certification.

Skills Required

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance; must be able to obtain a CI Polygraph
  • IAT Level 2 certification
  • Education: Bachelor's degree + 3 years relevant experience OR Associate's degree + 5 years relevant experience OR 7 years total relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • 3-5 years related network/system administration experience
  • Special Access Program (SAP) experience
  • Working technical competency with Windows Server, RHEL, Hypervisors (Hyper-V/VMware/Xen), SIEM/LogRhythm, ACAS/Nessus/SCAP, Group Policy, SQL/Oracle, IIS/Apache, vulnerability/forensic tools and endpoint/security products
  • Position based on-site at Kirtland AFB, NM
