Network Solutions Test Intern

This position is based in our Richardson, Texas Calix Office.
Calix is looking for a Network Solutions Test Intern to join our Products team for the Summer. You will be part of a unique and award-winning program within the company which provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Establish and maintain a test system for validating SMB routers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, ask questions, review feedback, and improve processes.
• Develop test plans and scenarios based on system and functional requirements to evaluate product performance.
• Conduct manual testing and track failures with tickets.
• Assist with automation and regression testing of nightly builds to support continuous integration.
• Review end-user documentation.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and address issues and risks.

Qualifications:

• Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. Preference will be given to Juniors or Seniors with previous internship or work experience.
• Basic understanding of Computer Networking (Ethernet, TCP/IP, OSI model, L2 Switching, L3 Routing).
• Good grasp of Network Security (NAT, IPSEC, Intrusion Prevention/Detection, Stateful Firewall, Connection Tracking).
• Knowledge of WiFi protocols and debugging.
• Experience in Networking labs (connectivity verification, troubleshooting).
• Proficiency with Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with Prompt Engineering and AI tools like Microsoft Copilot.
• Ability to automate tasks and debug scripts in Python/Bash.
• Basic knowledge of version control tools like GIT.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, think analytically, and solve problems.
• Organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Able to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).

Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education.

There are different ranges applied to specific locations. The average base pay range (or OTE range for sales) in the U.S. for the position is listed below.

San Francisco Bay Area Only:

27.60 - 34.50 USD Hourly

All Other Locations:

24.00 - 30.00 USD Hourly
