The Role

Join our team as a Technical Resolution Specialist, where you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimizing Kyndryl’s complex, high-traffic internet site communications and network-based product systems. As a Technical Resolution Specialist, you'll be the engineer of scalable local and wide-area network solutions, bridging multiple platforms and protocols, including IP and VOIP. Your mission is to ensure seamless system performance, troubleshoot network issues, and orchestrate the installation of vital components such as routers and switches in collaboration with our trusted vendors. But that's not all – you'll also be at the forefront of innovation, developing tools to automate network system deployment, administration, and monitoring, while actively participating in project planning and implementation.
This role isn't just about technical expertise; it's about collaboration and growth. You'll provide training and lend your expertise to proposal writing, enhancing our collective knowledge. You'll collaborate closely with development teams to fine-tune system operability, conduct rigorous tests to ensure network redundancy and resilience, and even step up to provide on-call service coverage when needed.

You'll offer expert advice on best practices, support actions, and architectural definitions, all while supporting your colleagues – be it Architects, Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), or other specialists – in delivering customer solutions.

Key Accountabilities

1. Ship‑to‑Shore Connectivity (Satellite & WAN)

  Manage and optimize:

•   VSAT (primary maritime WAN)
•   Starlink (LEO satellite connectivity)
•   Ensure stable hybrid WAN integration with SD‑WAN
•   Handle: Link failover & Latency-sensitive traffic optimization
•   Work with providers (e.g., Speedcast)

2. SD‑WAN & Routing

• Design and operate SD‑WAN overlay networks
• Manage routing protocols: BGP (iBGP / eBGP)
• Traffic segmentation (Corporate / Internet / Voice)
• Policy‑based routing
• Split tunneling
• Ensure seamless integration with cloud (AWS/Azure)

3. LAN / Core / Access Networking

• Manage enterprise Core–Access architecture (Cisco)
• VLANs, STP, LACP, VTP
• Switch stacking and redundancy
• Ensure high availability across ship networks

4. Wireless Infrastructure

• Manage Cisco WLC (AireOS / Catalyst 9800)
• Maintain optimal RF conditions:
• Noise / interference analysis
• Coverage optimization
• Troubleshoot client connectivity issues onboard ships

5. Security & Firewall Ecosystem (Fortinet)

Operate and manage:

·         FortiGate Firewalls (VDOM segmentation)

·         FortiManager (central policy management)

·         FortiAnalyzer (log & analytics)

·         FortiClient EMS

·         Configure: Security policies & NAT and VPNs (IPSec / SSL)

Maintain segmentation:

·         Corporate / Internet / OT / 3rd Party

6. Identity & Access Control

• Manage Cisco ISE for:
• Network access control (802.1X)
• Authentication / authorization
• Integrate with: Wired and wireless networks & Active Directory

7. Cloud Networking (AWS & Azure)

Design and support hybrid cloud connectivity

Manage:

·         Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, Private DNS)

·         AWS networking (VPCs, Route 53, security groups)

Implement:

·         Cloud Load Balancers (ALB, NLB, Azure LB)

·         Cloud Firewalls (Azure Firewall, AWS Security controls)

·         Integrate with SD‑WAN / IPSec connectivity

8. Voice & Communication Systems

• Support voice services:
• PSTN connectivity
• SIP trunk integration
• Ensure QoS for voice traffic over satellite links
• Troubleshoot call quality, latency, jitter issues

9. Monitoring & Observability

Monitor:

·         BGP sessions

·         IPSec tunnels

·         WAN performance (VSAT / Starlink)

·         Wireless health (APs, signal, noise)

Use tools:

·         NMS / SD‑WAN controllers

·         SIEM / logging platforms

Respond to incidents and outages

10. Documentation & Governance

Maintain:

·         Network diagrams

·         IP plans and VLAN mappings

·         Ensure consistency across ships and shore

·         Support compliance / audit requirements

Required Skills and Experience
•8-10 years of experience in a Technical Support/Resolution role or similar function
•Proven experience planning and implementing scalable local and wide-area network solutions between multiple platforms and protocols (including IP and VOIP)
•Expertise in operating internet site communications and/or network-based (Cloud) product systems
Preferred Skills and Experience
•Systematic and troubleshooting skills
•Certifications in cybersecurity, cloud computing, or project management
•Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills

Required Skills and Experience
•8-12 years of experience in a Technical Support/Resolution role or similar function
•Proven experience planning and implementing scalable local and wide-area network solutions between multiple platforms and protocols (including IP and VOIP)
•Expertise in operating internet site communications and/or network-based (Cloud) product systems

Preferred Experience, Knowledge & Certifications

• Maritime / offshore / remote connectivity environments
• Multi‑site or multi‑ship deployments
• Hybrid architectures (on‑prem + cloud + satellite)   
• VSAT (primary maritime WAN)

• Ensure stable hybrid WAN integration with SD‑WAN
• Handle: Link failover & Latency-sensitive traffic optimization

Certifications (Good to have)

·         Cisco CCNP / CCIE (Enterprise or Security)

·         Fortinet NSE4 / NSE5 / NSE7

·         Microsoft Azure (AZ‑700, AZ‑104)

·         AWS (Solutions Architect Associate / Advanced Networking)

·         CWNA / CWNP
•Systematic and troubleshooting skills
•Certifications in cybersecurity, cloud computing, or project management
