Scope:

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the provisioning process for network services, including circuit activation, cross-connections, and peer provisioning.

  • Coordinate with vendors for the transport and turn-up of new network locations, including Point of Presence (POP) deployments.

  • Handle end-to-end circuit management, ensuring links are operational and troubleshooting any issues that arise.

  • Document provisioning processes and configurations and ensure all deployments follow established procedures.

  • Monitor Optical Long Haul and Metro networks, identifying and troubleshooting issues promptly.

  • Perform fault isolation and work closely with optical equipment manufacturers and smart hands to restore services.

  • Contribute to creating monitoring tools, alerts, dashboards, and metrics to improve optical network performance.

  • Document and optimize operational processes and procedures related to optical networks.

  • Collaborate with backbone operations, ISP services, and other internal teams to ensure the smooth operation of network infrastructure.

  • Coordinate and escalate critical events while maintaining clear and concise communication across teams.

  • Support both provisioning and deployment operations, balancing tasks related to both network provisioning and optical troubleshooting.

  • Work with audit teams to ensure accurate inventory and documentation for both provisioning and optical network assets.
     

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from a four-year college or university and 2 to 5 years of related experience in network provisioning, optical engineering, or network operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong understanding of Layer 1 network troubleshooting, circuit provisioning, and deployment.

  • Experience with optical network monitoring and troubleshooting, including fault isolation and vendor coordination.

  • Familiarity with backbone operations, ISP services, and metro optical networks, including leased fiber management.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and cross-regionally with other operational teams.
     

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience with Juniper Shocker deployments or similar systems.

  • Knowledge of Global Systems Integrator (GSI) processes.

  • Experience in creating and managing monitoring tools and dashboards for network performance.

Physical Demand & Work Environment:

  • Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing

  • Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment

  • Must be able to use a computer

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively 

  • Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers

Salary Range

$70,300.00 - $111,000.00 USD (Salary)

Where an applicant or employee is placed on this range will depend and be contingent on objective, documented work-related considerations like education, experience, certifications, licenses, preferred qualifications, among other factors.
