Network Operations Capacity Engineer

As Aeris continues to expand, we are growing our Network Operations team and that's where you come in! We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Capacity Engineer for our Network Operations team. As a Capacity Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that our IoTA Network is optimized for performance, scalability, and reliability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze network usage, forecast future demands, and implement strategies to ensure the network can handle current and future requirements. Your expertise will play a critical role in maintaining network performance and supporting our customers' needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Capacity Planning and Management:
- Analyze current network capacity and usage to identify trends and potential bottlenecks.
- Develop and maintain capacity models to forecast future network requirements based on growth projections, new technology deployments, and market trends.
- Design and implement strategies to optimize network capacity and ensure scalability.
- Network Performance Monitoring:
- Utilize network monitoring tools and software to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure network performance meets or exceeds service level agreements (SLAs).
- Diagnose and resolve network performance issues, including traffic congestion and underutilization of resources.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work with network architects, engineers, and operations teams to design and implement network upgrades and expansions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support network projects and initiatives.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure the timely delivery and integration of new network components.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Produce regular reports on network capacity, usage trends, and performance metrics.
- Maintain detailed documentation of capacity plans, network architecture, and changes to the network.
- Optimization and Cost Management:
- Identify opportunities for cost savings through efficient use of network resources and vendor negotiations.
- Evaluate together with internal teams new technologies and solutions to enhance network capacity and performance while minimizing costs.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in capacity planning and management within a telecommunications environment.
- Strong knowledge of Cellular Core Network (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G) GSM, GPRS/UMTS/HSPA, LTE and 5G Circuit-switched and Packet-switched Core Network architecture and call flows
- Strong knowledge of Cellular systems (HLR/HSS, MSC/MME, GGSN/PGW, PCRF, AAA, etc.) and features (data, SMS, voice, location services, etc.)
- Proficiency in network monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, NetFlow, etc.).
- Experience with capacity management methodologies and tools with the ability to build (design &code) capacity models
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving network issues.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with a strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of cloud-based networking and telecom solutions.
- Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV).
- Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, etc.).
- Certification in relevant areas (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Juniper JNCIS/JNCIP, etc.).
