JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
Job Summary -- Essential Functions/Duties
A Network Engineer performs as a lead on more complex network engineering assignments as well as performs a variety of network engineering assignments involving technology applications involved in the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of complex network equipment and systems.
Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:
- Experience with design, implementation, testing and maintenance on network equipment and supporting systems.
- Performs as network lead on network engineering assignments or as the network representative to other engineering projects within JT4.
- Requires experience across different types of networking equipment and associated technologies and an understanding of how they interact.
- Strong understanding of WAN/LAN systems used to transmit voice, data and video across multimedia (copper, fiber optic, RF) WAN/LAN infrastructure.
- Ability to implement and debug protocol configurations associated with routing, protection switching, multicast data and VPN services
- Ability to design and implement solutions in accordance with commercial network standards and to document those solutions (drawings and text documents)
- Experience with commercial carrier services and managing the system interconnects.
- Ability to manage, troubleshoot, repair and document physical/logical network infrastructure.
- Experience with network layers 2/3, security firewalls and IP/MPLS networking equipment
- Perform other job-related duties, as required
Desired Qualifications
The following qualifications are desired:
- Experience with network and firewall equipment (Juniper/Cisco/Nokia)
- Experience with wireless data transport (microwave, cellular, satellite).
- Juniper or Cisco or Nokia network certification (e.g. JNCIS, CCNP) or the ability to obtain the Juniper JCNIS certification within a reasonable timeframe.
- Adjacent skills that are valuable but not necessary include; network facility design, power systems, cellular systems, network management systems (logging, monitoring, provisioning), RF design (towers, links) and mobile network system design.
Requirements -- Education, Technical, and Work Experience
A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and four years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of two years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering are required for this position.
In addition, an Engineer III must possess the following qualifications:
- Broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable senior technical contributor-level performance on complex projects or programs
- Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area
- Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
- Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Planning/organizational skills
- Must be able to obtain CompTIA Security+ certification within six months of hire
- Ability to obtain a government security clearance

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required.
Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
