Job Description
Infrastructure & Network Engineer
Working in our Infrastructure team, the successful candidate will support the delivery, maintenance, and ongoing operation of the organisation’s network and infrastructure services.
You will help ensure reliable performance, availability, and security across our systems, contributing to the smooth running of business operations and services.
Other responsibilities include:
- Support the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of network and infrastructure solutions in line with established standards and designs.
- Assist in maintaining secure network environments, including firewalls, wireless networks, VPNs, and related security tools.
- Contribute to the creation and upkeep of technical documentation and network diagrams.
- Support multi-site network operations, including routine monitoring and maintenance activities.
- Assist with device lifecycle tasks, including provisioning, updates, and decommissioning.
- Carry out regular maintenance activities such as patching, upgrades, and basic capacity monitoring.
- Work with monitoring tools to identify issues and resolve or escalate where appropriate.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and other teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

In this role, you'll need to interact and engage with other teams and explain technical issues to non-technical staff. As such, you should be comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical colleagues to maintain productive working relationships.
You will be a proactive team player with a willingness to learn and develop your technical skills, while also able to manage your workload effectively. If you hold any certifications, this would be a bonus.
We'll also expect you to have the following experience, knowledge and skills:
- Experience supporting enterprise network environments (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and data centre environments).
- Good working knowledge of routing and switching concepts (e.g. VLANs, STP, OSPF).
- Experience working with WAN providers and fibre network infrastructure, including DIA and SDWAN.
- Understanding of VPN technologies including security and cryptographic standards.
- Good understanding of core networking services such as DHCP, DNS, and IP addressing.
- Familiarity with network access control systems and protocols, such as AAA, RADIUS, 802.1x.
- Good experience working with virtualisation (preferably VMWare) and storage solutions
- Strong experience working with Windows Server and Active Directory / Entra ID
- Experience working with Remote Desktop Services
- Experience managing and maintaining monitoring systems.
- Exposure to cloud compute and networking.
- Good problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
Ideally, you'll also have:
- Basic scripting or automation experience.
- Awareness of IT service management frameworks such as ITIL.
- Understanding of information security principles (e.g. ISO 27001).
- Experience working with a range of networking vendors and technologies.
