Job Title: Network EngineerRole Overview
The Network Engineer is responsible for the administration, security, and ongoing operation of the Marmon Group’s enterprise network infrastructure across corporate offices and manufacturing environments. This role focuses primarily on hands-on network engineering, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Cisco networking equipment and Palo Alto firewalls to ensure high availability, strong security, and uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
The role supports a 24x7 global operating model, aligned with U.S. business hours. The Network Engineer will also support Azure-hosted network resources and identity services as part of the overall infrastructure environment, but the primary responsibility is maintaining reliable, secure, and high-performing network systems.
When network operations are stable, the Network Engineer will provide Level 1 and Level 2 desktop support to maintain end-user productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure (Primary Responsibility)
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco network infrastructure, including:
- Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching
- VLANs, routing, and segmentation
- Enterprise wireless networks
- PoE switching environments
- Deploy and support Cisco wireless access points and controllers, including modern tri-band Wi-Fi environments
- Manage Cisco Meraki cloud-managed networks, including switching, wireless, and licensing
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco & Palo Alto firewalls, including:
- Security policies and NAT rules
- VPN configuration and monitoring
- Threat prevention and logging
- Network segmentation and access control
- Ensure network performance, reliability, and security across offices and manufacturing locations
- Maintain high availability and rapid response to network incidents impacting operations
Network Security & Monitoring
- Monitor network devices, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure for performance, availability, and security events
- Proactively identify and resolve network risks and performance issues
- Implement security best practices, segmentation, and access control
- Support incident response and root cause analysis
Supporting Infrastructure (Azure & Identity – Secondary Responsibility)
- Support Azure-hosted network resources such as virtual networks, connectivity, and infrastructure components
- Assist with Azure Entra ID access controls and identity-related network access requirements
- Support secure connectivity between cloud and on-premises environments
Collaboration & Platform Support
- Support network connectivity for Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive services
- Ensure secure and reliable access to collaboration platforms
End-User Support
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 desktop support when network operations are stable
- Troubleshoot workstation, connectivity, and application issues
- Support users in a professional and service-oriented manner
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- Strong hands-on experience configuring and supporting Cisco networking infrastructure
- Proven experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, routing, VLANs, and wireless networks
- Hands-on experience managing Cisco & Palo Alto firewalls in enterprise environments
- Experience supporting multi-site enterprise networks
- Strong understanding of network security principles and segmentation
- Experience supporting high-availability or manufacturing environments
Preferred
- Experience with Cisco Meraki cloud-managed networking
- Basic experience supporting Azure networking or hybrid environments
- Experience supporting SharePoint and OneDrive connectivity
- Familiarity with network monitoring and alerting tools
- Basic Experience providing Level 1 and Level 2 desktop support
- Relevant certifications such as:
- Cisco CCNA or CCNP
- Palo Alto PCNSA or PCNSE
- Azure networking certification
