The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Network Engineer to support the U.S. Army, XVIII Airborne Corps HQ at Fort Bragg, NC. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience supporting the customer’s mission under the GSM-O II Contract.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform IP LAN/WAN engineering and administration support to include configuration of switches, routers, firewalls, and VoIP Call Managers
- Configure military tactical fly away kits and encryption devices.
- Configure 802.1x port security, DHCP, Identity services Engine (ISE), and monitor SolarWinds.
- Verify equipment is operating as intended, test configurations, and react to alerts as necessary.
- Apply network device updates, security configurations, and report compliance.
- Provide technical support for the design, implementation, and integration of network changes and sustainment.
- Configure protected subnets for IT product testing and provide analytical feedback to the CCB
- Assist in the planning and performing of analytical research, design development, topology architecture, engineering to meet customer specifications.
- Perform various software and application administration and maintenance tasks.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance current customer capabilities.
- Ensure efficient delivery of contract capabilities using industry standards and repeatable processes.
- Mitigate risks, control costs and schedule variance, and effectively manage large scale, integrated projects.
- Utilize Microsoft Visio to draft network diagrams and other Microsoft Office Suite tools for word processing, spreadsheets, and briefings.
- Provide mentorship and act as a technical resource for other network engineer staff on the team.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 4+ yrs. of relevant experience. 8-12 years of specific experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Currently possess an active DoD Secret Security Clearance with eligibility for a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) in order to obtain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance.
- Must possess DoD 8570, IAT Level II (SEC+ or equivalent) Certification.
- Computing Environment certification CCNA or equivalent
- Be able to communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in written form.
- Knowledgeable on the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and DISA Network topology standards
- Experience configuring VLANs, Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF), routing protocols, IP addressing, and sub-netting; to include firm understanding of IPv6.
- Experience troubleshooting and configuring IP networks using at least one of the following routing methods; BGP, ISIS or OSPF, or Static routing.
- Experience with either service provider or enterprise IP networks using an interface on Cisco (ESR and ASR).
- Experience with ports and protocols and services management (PPSM).
- Significant understanding and experience of military network operations.
