The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our NTCSS team at Naval Station Norfolk, VA. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in network engineering combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This role will involve designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's network infrastructure while collaborating effectively with various teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructures, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
- Troubleshoot network issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct regular network performance analysis and optimization.
- Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network requirements are met for various projects.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Must have an active secret (or interim) clearance and must be able to obtain a T5 investigation clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in network engineering roles.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, etc.).
- Proficiency in configuring and maintaining network equipment from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto).
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
- Knowledge of cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and team collaboration.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Strong project management and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

On-site Work Requirements:
This position requires a mix of on-site and remote work. The successful candidate should be available to work on-site at our main office location for a minimum of 1 day per week, with the possibility of additional on-site days as needed for critical projects or maintenance activities. In January 2025 the minimum on-site requirement will increase to at least 2 days per week. It is anticipated that this requirement will further increase to towards a five-day 40 hour on-site a week schedule.
Desired:
- DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification or higher (ex. CompTIA Security + CE) or capability to obtain within 6 months from hire.

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$82,100-$172,400
