Network Engineer

Location: Fully Remote, Reside in USA

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Network Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of our complex network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability for all users. You will play a key role in supporting our business goals and objectives by maintaining a robust, efficient, and automated network environment, leveraging Cisco technologies, F5 load balancing solutions, and best practices for network patching and cloud connectivity. Your expertise will span across data center operations, web hosting support, general server administration, and network security.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain LANs and WANs utilizing Cisco hardware platforms.
  • Configure and manage Cisco network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless) with NX-OS and IOS-XE.
  • Implement and maintain network automation solutions using technologies like Cisco DNA Center, Python, and Ansible.
  • Configure and manage F5 LTM appliances for load balancing and application delivery optimization.
  • Design and implement internal routing with EIGRP and external routing with BGP.
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure within data center environments.
  • Provide web hosting support, including troubleshooting connectivity issues and optimizing server performance.
  • Offer basic support for Windows and Linux servers, including patching and user management (if applicable).
  • Apply and manage network patching processes, including testing and rollouts, to address vulnerabilities and enhance overall network security.
  • Design and implement secure and reliable cloud connectivity solutions, utilizing technologies like VPNs, SD-WAN, and cloud provider APIs.
  • Monitor network performance, identify and troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure uptime and availability.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, implement network upgrades, and manage Cisco software updates and hardware refreshes.
  • Document network configurations, procedures, and automation scripts.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff and departments to resolve technical issues and ensure network alignment with business needs.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest Cisco networking technologies, F5 advancements, relevant data center trends, network security best practices, and cloud connectivity solutions.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (or related field) or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong expertise in Cisco NX-OS and IOS-XE, including command-line configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with F5 LTM configuration and administration.
  • Understanding of EIGRP and BGP routing protocols.
  • Experience with data center environments and best practices.
  • Familiarity with web hosting concepts and support procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration (a plus).
  • Experience with network automation tools and scripting languages like Python and Ansible.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking protocols and best practices.
  • Experience with network patching methodologies and best practices.
  • Understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies, such as VPNs, SD-WAN, and cloud provider APIs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent with a focus on Cisco NX-OS and IOS-XE.
  • F5 certifications like BIG-IP Certified Professional (ACP) or BIG-IP Certified Specialist (BCS).
  • Experience with Cisco automation tools like DNA Center, ACI, or Python-based frameworks.
  • Experience in a specific industry relevant to our company.
  • Certifications related to network security and patching, such as Security+ or CISSP.
  • Certifications related to cloud technologies, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect.
