Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Network Design & Deployment — Design, configure, and deploy core and edge networking infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, circuits, and related network services, to deliver standardized, secure, compartmentalized and scalable connectivity across corporate and venue environments.
- Site Standardization — Perform network discovery and document existing infrastructure at newly acquired or transitioned sites. Lead site cutovers to Smart City-owned infrastructure, including MDF/IDF migrations, core network replacements, and retirement of legacy and third-party platforms to ensure consistency across Smart City venues.
- Technical Escalation & Service Recovery — Act as a Tier 2/Tier 3 point of escalation for NOC and field operations staff. Take ownership of complex tickets, perform root-cause analysis, and drive technical resolution of service-impacting issues. Develop and implement standardized solutions with minimal supervision. Coordinate with carriers, vendors, and technical support organizations to troubleshoot and resolve service-impacting issues.
- Routing, Switching & Network Services — Provision and troubleshoot network connectivity, including switching, routing, BGP peering, route filtering, multicast services, IPSEC tunnels, firewall services, NAT, DHCP, and DNS, as well as related network infrastructure, to meet client and business requirements while maintaining service reliability and company standards.
- Platform Migrations — Plan and execute IOS-XE and platform upgrades across the fleet using Catalyst Center SWIM and related technologies. Develop, publish, and validate repeatable company-wide upgrade and migration procedures.
- Monitoring & Management Platforms — Administer and refine Cisco Catalyst Center, monitoring systems (e.g., AKiPS), and related tooling; manage RBAC, reporting, firewall rules, and VLANs, and coordinate with Cisco TAC and engineering on advanced service requests.
- Event Technology Support — Support client events and venue technology operations through service readiness validation, infrastructure implementation, design consultation, and advanced troubleshooting. Prioritize event-impacting issues and work toward timely resolution to maintain reliable network services during live events.
- Maintenance Windows — Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to identify and schedule appropriate outage windows. Perform network maintenance during approved windows while minimizing service disruption.
- Documentation & Standards — Produce and maintain accurate network documentation, including Visio topologies, rack diagrams, IP address schemes, public IP usage, IDF inventories, and Master IP Lists (MIPL). Develop configuration templates and proposed technical standards, and evaluate and recommend technologies and best practices that improve Smart City’s network environment.
- Field Support — Occasionally travel onsite for surveys, walkthroughs, infrastructure deployments, troubleshooting, migrations, and support of major client events. Provide rapid diagnostics under pressure during complex event-impacting situations.
- Lab & Validation Environments — Build and maintain representative lab environments used to evaluate technologies, validate significant configuration changes, and reduce deployment risk before production implementation.
