Network Engineer (12-Month Fixed Term Contract)

At Vicinity Centres, we're in the midst of an exciting technology transformation, investing in new infrastructure, modern platforms, and innovative solutions that support Australia's leading retail destinations. We're seeking a Network Engineer to join our Technology team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing hands-on expertise across our enterprise network environment and helping deliver secure, reliable connectivity across the business.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a networking professional looking to broaden their exposure across a diverse technology stack spanning Cisco networking, security, cloud, data centre, and enterprise infrastructure, while working alongside a collaborative and highly supportive team.

About the Role

Reporting into the Technology Engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting, designing, implementing and maintaining Vicinity's network infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity, reliability, performance and security across the organisation.

You'll play a critical role in maintaining a stable operational environment while contributing to ongoing transformation initiatives, infrastructure enhancements and technology projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure

  • Performing network configuration, optimisation, upgrades and enhancements

  • Monitoring network performance and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement

  • Investigating and resolving complex network incidents and technical issues

  • Maintaining network security controls and supporting compliance requirements

  • Conducting system updates, patching and preventative maintenance activities

  • Collaborating with internal technology teams, stakeholders and vendors to deliver network solutions

  • Supporting strategic projects that enhance connectivity, security and infrastructure capability across the business

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who can quickly become a trusted member of the team through their technical capability, proactive mindset and willingness to learn.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise network infrastructure

  • Strong experience troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues

  • Experience managing network upgrades, configurations and performance optimisation

  • Background supporting secure, highly available corporate environments

Technical Skills

Ideally, you'll bring experience across several of the following:

  • Cisco L2/L3 networking technologies

  • Cisco IOS routing and switching

  • LAN, WAN, Wireless and Data Centre networking

  • Routing protocols including OSPF, ISIS and BGP

  • Cisco security platforms including ASA, FTD and ISE

  • VPN technologies including SSL VPN, IPSec, GRE and MPLS

  • Network monitoring and management tools such as SolarWinds, Elastic and Cisco Catalyst Center

  • Cloud networking technologies across AWS and/or Azure

  • Emerging technologies including SD-WAN, automation and network modernisation initiatives

  • CCNP or CCIE certification (highly regarded)
