Mō te tūranga | About the role

Due to continued growth in the Waikato region, we’re looking for a Network Engineer to join our team in Ngāruawāhia.

In this role, you’ll bring data, technical insight, and practical thinking to help shape maintenance and renewal programmes across the WDC South Maintenance Contract. You’ll work across office and field environments, supporting smart, evidence-based decisions that keep the network performing at its best.

This is a role for someone who likes solving real problems, working closely with operational teams, and doing Good Work that has a clear impact on the communities we support.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

  • Interpret network and asset data to support evidence-based planning and decision making.

  • Validate field conditions through inspections, audits, and asset condition assessments.

  • Manage asset data to improve performance, longevity, and value for money across the network.

  • Work with operational teams to support maintenance strategies and a best-for-network approach.

  • Develop practical maintenance and renewal programmes from complex technical information.

  • A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Asset Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience in roading, civil infrastructure, or a similar network-based environment.

  • Strong capability in field validation, inspections, and asset condition assessment.

  • Confidence working with complex data and turning it into clear, practical actions.

  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused approach.
