We are in search of a highly skilled and experienced Tier 2 Network Engineer to join our Managed Service Provider (MSP) team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in networking technologies, exceptional problem-solving prowess, a fervent dedication to delivering top-notch network solutions, and the ability to work autonomously.
As a Tier 2 Network Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in upholding, troubleshooting, and optimizing our network infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity, utmost reliability, and uncompromising security.

Location: 
This is a remote position. Although the position is fully remote, there may be occasional travel required based on job needs.
Responsibilities:
Network Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Monitor, analyze, and promptly resolve network incidents, outages, and performance issues.
  • Collaborate with Tier 1 support to escalate and diagnose intricate network problems.
  • Implement network changes, updates, and patches with minimal disruption to services.
  • Conduct regular network audits and health checks to proactively identify and rectify potential issues.

Network Infrastructure Management:

  • Assist in the design, deployment, and upkeep of LAN, WAN, and data center networks.
  • Configure, deploy, and oversee network devices including switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure network requirements for new applications and services are met.

Network Security:

  • Enforce network security policies, protocols, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor network traffic for signs of suspicious activities and respond to security incidents as needed.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and collaborate with the security team to mitigate vulnerabilities.

Performance Optimization:

  • Monitor network performance metrics, identifying optimization opportunities.
  • Propose and implement network upgrades, capacity planning, and enhancements to improve network efficiency. Experience with SolarWinds is advantageous.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and current network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and their resolutions.

Collaboration and Training:

  • Collaborate with IT teams and departments, offering technical expertise and support.
  • Mentor and guide Tier 1 support engineers in enhancing their technical proficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrable experience as a Tier 2 Network Engineer or in a comparable role.
  • Profound knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and network security principles.
  • Hands-on familiarity with network hardware and software, including Cisco ACI, NX-OS, IOS, Cisco UCS, F5, and similar platforms.
  • Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and protocols.
  • Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS, Azure, OCI, and others.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant certifications like CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, or equivalents are advantageous.
