HERE’S WHAT THE JOB REALLY LOOKS LIKE
Responsible for designing, developing and implementing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that support network infrastructure and meet business objectives. Responsible for providing client support for network infrastructure including advanced design, setup and support of systems.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Configure and install various network devices and services
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
WHAT YOU’LL ACTUALLY DO
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Provide senior level support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Properly set the scope and timelines of new projects to meet completion deadlines.
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands and tasks and successfully manage multiple engagements that may require additional resources.
- Interface with all levels of employees internally and within client businesses to support program requirements (business owners, project managers, customer employees and customers’ executive management).
- Provide technical guidance to other IT professionals to correct problems encountered with network software and connectivity.
- Design, install, and support Route/Switch environments.
- Design, install, and support firewall environments.
- Monitoring network engineering performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Configuring and installing various network devices and services
- Performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
- Identify and implement work efficiencies through process improvement techniques
- Other computer operations work as required.
WHAT’LL SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience within area related to job function
- Minimum of seven years of experience in the Information Technology field
- Minimum of five years of experience in a multi-server environment, Help Desk and/or NOC or related technical environment.
- Proven hands-on network engineering experience, monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools and deep understanding of networking protocols
- Customer facing projects and BGP expertise - Required
- Demonstrate excellent communications skills both verbally and in writing
- Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical people
- Ability to negotiate and solve conflict
- Thorough knowledge and experience with the Unix operating environment experience and advanced PC troubleshooting knowledge
- Ability to analyst complex business problems and issues as it relates to Enterprise Network Infrastructure.
- Ability to design, install, and support route/switch and firewall environments.
- Able to manage the needs of multiple client sites, prioritize the need and manage the workload for each day between assigned locations.
- Advanced knowledge/experience with data communications (FTP, TCP/IP, Ethernet, Hubs, Routers).
- Thorough understanding of SQL and relational database concepts.
- Knowledge or experience in call center operations and/or applications and project management.
- Constant work performed in a Corporate environment
- May require frequent travel
- Work performed while sitting and/or standing
- Constant use of computer, telephone devices and other general office equipment
