About Your Business Area/Department:

The Network Engineer (GWAN) role is part of the Technology, Security, Innovation and Agility team at Amadeus Colombia, based in Bogotá. This department is responsible for engineering, commissioning, maintaining, and supporting networking components and solutions across the global Amadeus infrastructure. The team focuses on service quality, efficiency, and cost optimization, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and global standards.

Summary of the role:

The Network Engineer (GWAN is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting Amadeus’ global network infrastructure, including WAN, Internet, PoPs, and customer-specific solutions. This role combines technical expertise, project management, and innovation to ensure high-performance, secure, and cost-effective network operations.

In this role you’ll:

  • Network Design & Implementation: Assist in the design, architecture, and deployment of Amadeus’ global WAN, Internet, and customer-specific networks.
  • Technology Research & Validation: Support research, integration, and testing of new network technologies and solutions. Provide technical recommendations for new architectures and enhancements.
  • Vendor Evaluation: Participate in the evaluation and testing of network hardware and provider solutions.
  • Standards Development: Contribute to the development of Amadeus networking standards and solution portfolios.
  • Performance & Capacity Management: Conduct performance reporting and impact analysis to ensure optimal network operation.
  • Automation: Develop and enhance automation solutions using Ansible to streamline network operations and improve efficiency.
  • Scripting: Utilize Python to build and maintain scripts that support automation, monitoring, and configuration management.
  • Cost Optimization: Assist in designing cost-effective network topologies aligned with strategic goals.
  • Project Management: Lead or support network implementation projects, including planning and execution.
  • Support: Provide 3rd-level on-call support on a rotational basis.

About the ideal candidate:

  • University degree or equivalent professional experience in a large international network environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Network Engineer in a large-scale, international setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in network technologies, architecture, and engineering.
  • Solid background in cloud networking and Internet technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Juniper router technologies (certification preferred).
  • Experience with Ansible for automation and Python for scripting and tooling.
  • Project management experience, including remote implementations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate clearly in both written and verbal form.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
