Position Title: Sr Network Consultant

Job Description

The Sr Network Engineer will work within a global Network Services team in a Fortune 500 company.  This is a global Sr Network Engineer role, responsible but not limited to architecture, design, implementation, analytics, performance control and technical guidance in all network systems supporting efficient network communication operation.  The Sr Network Engineer will ensure compliance to established system architecture, regulations and security policies, follow standards and best practices, and author and maintain support documentation.  The Sr Network Engineer will work in all areas of networking ranging from routing, switching, load balancing, wireless network, SDWAN, VPN, MPLS, IP management and addressing (i.e. DHCP, DNS, IPAM, etc.), and network security. This job requires extensive knowledge and experience dealing with implementation and issue resolution of Juniper SDWAN, F5, Palo Alto Networks firewall, Cisco Meraki, Cisco and other network systems and technologies.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Advanced knowledge with an array of network services including Juniper SDWAN, routing, switching, load balancing, firewall, wireless network, VPN, MPLS and network security.
  • Complex problem resolution skills relating to network connectivity and application inter-operability.
  • Design, implements, documents network services per solution design
  • Monitor, analyze, and report capacity of Network solution system utilization and perform growth analysis/capacity planning.
  • Work closely with Server, and other Infra teams.
  • Function as a Tier-3 escalation point during major outages or critical downtime windows
  • Ensure Network regulations, security and legal requirements are maintained globally
  • Works with business partners and carriers on projects and participate in negotiations and provide technical analysis for vendor contracts for new/existing products and/or services.
  • Document enterprise network infrastructure components

Operational Responsibilities: the successful candidate will have very high levels of visibility when requests are made by the organization.  These requests are commonly unplanned, urgent, and critical in nature.  This senior resource will need to provide escalation level support when lower levels of the organization are unable to progress or need guidance.  Mentorship overall is expected out of this role to ensure technical teams are comprehending complex solutions and the operational impact.

Core Job Requirements:

Essential Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or comparable discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • 14+ years of experience in Information Technology in the management, configuration, modification, installation, and evaluation of network systems hardware and software
  • 10+ years of experience in a global enterprise environment (MUST)
  • Excellent hands-on experience on Juniper product line, MX Series, EX series, and SSRs.  Expertise using these products through CLI interface & GUI.
  • Work experience with Network operating systems such as Junos, Cisco IOS, F5.
    • JunOS (Advanced), Cisco IOS (Advanced), F5 (Advanced),
  • Excellent BGP / SDWAN protocols understanding, configuration and troubleshooting skills.
    • BGP (Advanced), OSPF (Advanced), SDWAN (Advanced)
  • Good hands-on experience on Juniper Mist and Apstra.
  • Experience deploying QoS, MPLS, L2VPN's and L3VPN's.
  • Able to troubleshoot layer 2-7 issues.
  • Be able to create designs or take a design from a design engineer and implement it.
  • Familiar with Data Center Architecture - Network, Servers, Storage
  • Ability to work on a heterogeneous network consisting of different hardware manufacturer.
  • Strong vendor management
  • JNCIS Certification Preferred.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux will be a plus point.
  • Must be able to work occasional weekends and after hours
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally (20%)
  • Automation and scripting skills are a plus
  • Network monitoring experience at tool deployment, configuration, and turn over to operations management
