We are looking for a Network Automation DevOps Engineer whose core mission is to automate networking functions, simplify network operations, and maintain an accurate, real time network inventory.
The ideal candidate has strong DevOps foundations (Python, Ansible, Git, CI/CD) and understands network technologies well enough to automate their configuration, validation, and lifecycle management.
This role focuses heavily on creating automation workflows, APIs, data models, and CI/CD processes that support modern network operations at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Network Automation
- Develop automation for network device configuration, provisioning, and validation using Python and Ansible.
- Create reusable automation frameworks and playbooks for multi-vendor network environments.
- Build scripts/tools to extract, normalize, and maintain network inventory (topology, hardware details, interfaces, IPs, routing policies, etc.).
- Automate routine network operations such as:
- VLAN creation and updates
- Interface provisioning
- ACL / firewall policy updates
- Routing configuration templates
- Compliance checks and automated drift detection
Data & Inventory Management
- Build and maintain a central, authoritative network inventory (CMDB or database).
- Integrate with device APIs, SNMP, NetConf/RESTConf, or vendor SDKs to retrieve real‑time state.
- Ensure configuration accuracy by correlating intended vs. operational state.
- Automate documentation generation (network diagrams, configuration reports, audit logs).
DevOps & CI/CD for Networking
- Design CI/CD pipelines that validate and deploy network configuration changes safely.
- Implement automated testing (linting, syntax validation, intent checks, compliance policies).
- Use Git workflows to manage network configuration as code.
- Integrate with change management and approval workflows.
Collaboration & Support
- Collaborate with network teams to translate manual tasks into automation workflows.
- Support incident response with automation, enabling faster diagnostics and remediation.
- Provide documentation, training, and best practices to improve adoption of automation tools.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience in Python for automation, APIs, data parsing, and tooling.
- Hands-on expertise with Ansible (especially network automation modules).
- Proficient in Git, GitOps workflows, and code lifecycle management.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure or network configuration.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts:
- IP addressing, routing basics, VLANs, VRFs
- Firewall rules, ACLs
- Device configuration models (CLI, YANG, APIs)
- Knowledge of data structures (JSON, YAML) and network inventories.
- Experience interacting with network devices via:
- REST APIs
- Netmiko / NAPALM / Paramiko
- NetConf / RESTConf
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with network vendors (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.).
- Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform for network providers).
- Experience with network monitoring/telemetry (gNMI, streaming logs, SNMP).
- Familiarity with CMDB tools or custom database modeling.
- Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Cisco DevNet, or equivalent automation credentials.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical mindset with a passion for automation.
- Ability to simplify complex manual operations into reliable automated workflows.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Proactive, curious, and collaborative approach with network engineers and DevOps teams.
