Job Description
Peterson Cat has a need for a Network Administrator at our Hillsboro, OR location.
SUMMARY
The Network Administrator supports the administration and maintenance of network infrastructure, including servers, routers, switches, and other hardware. Responsibilities include monitoring performance, performing preventative maintenance, coordinating third-party services, supporting disaster recovery, and maintaining documentation. The position also involves assisting users with network access and training IT staff on equipment. As needed, the role supports Help Desk functions such as application installation, workstation builds, troubleshooting, AV setup, and technical assistance for staff and events.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist with the administration, maintenance, and support of wide area and local area network hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, network nodes, switches, routers and other associated components.
Use appropriate tools to proactively monitor network and device performance.
Perform preventative maintenance to minimize risk of outage and/or performance degradation.
Coordinate third-party maintenance for network hardware and software services as needed.
Coordinate with and provide information to third-party vendors for network products and services including Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), Internet Protocol (IP), Wireless/Mobility, and Fiber.
Perform necessary changes, moves, and re-configurations as required by business changes, facilities re-design, personnel changes/moves, and/or feature changes as directed.
Assist with analysis of network needs, proposing alternatives, making recommendations, and executing installation and integration projects.
Assist with coordinating the installation of hardware and software by third parties such as vendors, contractors, and other Peterson personnel.
Prepare and maintain documentation of network configuration, device specifications, traffic capacities, hardware, and software version levels.
Assist with disaster recovery planning and maintenance; test plans as recommended and/or directed.
Support and train users in data network administration and usage. Respond to needs and questions of users concerning their access and use of the networks and data.
Communicate network upgrades, maintenance schedules, and downtime to users.
Train other IT personnel in the operation and maintenance of networking equipment as required to ensure that priority functions have resource re-redundancy and risk is minimized.
Travel away from base location up to 40% of the time to meet with coworkers, perform on-site technical support, and perform network repairs, upgrades, and maintenance.
Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
As needed, assist Help Desk team with:
Installation and support for all user applications and enterprise applications- including specialty software from our vendor partners including Caterpillar, Navistar, and Trimble.
Workstation, laptop, and tablet builds.
Issue resolution and build documentation.
Creating, transferring, and maintaining software license contracts.
Setup/teardown and troubleshooting of mobile Audio-Visual equipment for company events.
Monitoring and troubleshooting Conference Room videoconferencing equipment.
End user support and troubleshooting in-person, by phone, and by email.
Technical assistance in-person and remotely to executive and director-level staff.
Technical assistance for in-person meetings.
Coordinating with Peterson personnel and 3rd party vendors to plan and schedule work.
Addressing Helpdesk tickets.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree from a fully accredited college in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other closely related field; and a minimum of 6 years of combined experience in Help Desk and/or Network Administration roles; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Experience in network administration preferred
Experience as Peterson Help Desk Technician preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) preferred
CompTIA A+ license (or equivalent) preferred
Must maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
