A Network Administrator… Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Network Administrator is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, integrity, and efficient operation of the organization's network infrastructure and information systems that support critical business operations.
This position applies strong technical expertise, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills to proactively identify, communicate, and resolve technology issues while maximizing the value and performance of Tessera's IT investments. The Network Administrator leverages current technologies and industry best practices to design, implement, and maintain a secure, reliable, and scalable network environment.
As one of the three technical leaders within the IT Department—alongside Cybersecurity and Systems Administration—this role serves as a strategic partner in driving the organization's technology initiatives and maintaining compliance with the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) framework. Together, these technical leaders provide direction for enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, and compliance efforts.
The Network Administrator supports the IT Department's strategic vision by contributing to technology planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and the successful delivery of IT services. Responsibilities include designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing network hardware, software, telecommunications, and communication systems. This role also provides advanced technical support and assists in the timely resolution of Help Desk requests affecting network services.
In partnership with IT leadership, this position plays a key role in organizational initiatives including change management, project management, vendor management, technology planning, and annual budget development to ensure the continued reliability, security, and growth of Tessera's technology environment.
Exceptional and complete knowledge, competency, experience and expertise in all aspects of the corporate networking environment.
Lead, coordinate, install, configure, support and maintain network devices, systems and proprietary software, as required nationwide. Including upgrades and add-ons, associated relational databases and host servers.
Support all network services and protocols such as, DNS, WINS, email services, DHCP, Active Directory, Web services, authentication, IMAP, SMTP, SNMP, TCP/IP, IPv6-7 and IPsec.
Network management and monitoring of all network resources including network discovery, mapping and topology, event management and alerting, patch management and performance monitoring. Leverage outside / vendor resoures to assure that technology is at current software levels and anticipate necessary upgrades as part of technology support.
Lead, coordinate, install, configure, support and maintain internet security solutions such as firewalls, UTM, VPN’s, inbound/outbound port management, anti-virus, anti-spam, email and content filtering software.
Maintain consistent, secure, high-speed cooperate and remote office network connectivity that promotes and enhances enterprise information sharing. Proactively anticipate for network utilization, plan, provision and assure network capacity necessary reducing/eliminating bottlenecks.
Evaluate and propose network technologies that support user communities in a variety of diverse environments. These evaluations are to include next best alternatives so Management can act proactively keeping the network ahead of the demand.
Participation in IT product research as it relates to network performance and connectivity.
As assigned manage vendor relationships that best support with a balance of value and effectiveness.
Install, configure, support and maintain all network user hardware/software including workstations, peripheral devices, operating systems, office suites and 3rd party applications.
Provides technical support and interacts with users to resolve Help Desk issues. Diagnose, research, and resolve technical hardware and software problems. Documents all incidents through resolution. Provides user training as required.
Meticulous and methodical electronic documentation of IT systems, processes, procedures, and methodologies is required. Exceptional organizational skills, proficient task management and the ability to prioritize are fundamental.
The Network Engineer will be a competent, dependable, honest, and accountable individual who holds in high regard respect and consideration of others. Must exhibit a strong work ethic and address issues without direction.
This Network Engineer will be analytical, precise, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to make informed decisions, apply logic and common sense and discover solutions through diligent research.
Exceptional organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to provide technical correspondence suited to diverse users and groups. Demonstrates professionalism, kindness, courtesy, and respect at all times.
Works well with others and participates fully in team-oriented tasks. Contributes to cross-departmental projects and provides technical expertise as required.
Reports for scheduled work with regular, reliable, and punctual attendance. Prompt arrival is required. May occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends or assigned to support odd shifts or emergency functions.
The ability to maintain a clean and neat work area is expected. Willingness to travel to support remote offices as required.

Summary of desired skills and experience for the Tessera Network Adminstrator:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field required
5 – 8 years of previous experience in MS Windows network management and multi-system environment required
Equivalent combination of previous experience and education will be considered
Obtain and maintain a valid Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. Candidates who do not possess a current CCNA at the time of hire must obtain the certification within twelve (12) months of their hire date. Following achievement of the CCNA, the employee is expected to begin pursuing the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification as part of their professional development
MSCE, MSCA, Network +, Security + certifications preferred
A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
