The Opportunity:

CACI’s Agile Digital Solutions Group is seeking a Database Administrator interested in growing their career with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Consolidated Applications and Platform Services (NCAPS) team! NCAPS is an effort to consolidate current application support and transform IT capability delivery across the enterprise include general IT, customer support, information management, and mission support systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide database administration (DBA) for those tasks identifying a database management system (DBMS) environment, including DBMS software and associated database tools.

  • Perform database administration including any or all of the requirements as directed.

  • Provide DBA for those tasks identifying a DBMS environment, including DBMS software and associated database tools.

  • Perform database administration including any or all of the following requirements as directed in tasks.

  • Install and maintain new and upgraded DBMS software and associated tools on both production and development systems.

  • Identify impacts of new and upgraded software by testing, documenting, and communicating impacts to customers, Cybersecurity, network services and the Center IT Operations Board before implementation.

  • Install and maintain new and upgraded databases on both production and development environments.

  • Ensure operability and availability of the DBMS environment, compliance with security requirements, and achieve and document a common or standard configuration for the DBMS environment to enable application developers to produce predictable results.

  • Ensure compatibility between the DBMS and the operating system and interact with cognizant IT personnel to ensure that the system adequately supports database applications.

  • Create database. Manage and maintain database configuration parameters and standards according to best practices. Data modeling including logical and physical database design.

  • Create Database objects, data/database jobs, replication scripts and topologies.

  • Recommended/suggest DBMS architectural designs to support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) requirements to meet customer SLAs.

  • Implement recommended DBMS design.

  • Software support of application code (creation of views, indexes).

  • Implement user authentication and authorization methods and standards.

  • Provide user account management and maintenance. 

  • Perform database cloning, upgrade, patching and data refreshes.

  • Provide NASA with authorization and user account management standards, procedures, and processes.

  • Review and approve authorization and user account management standards, procedures, and processes.

  • Comply with Government Cybersecurity Standards and best practices.

  • Design database Cybersecurity user ids/groups/roles.

  • Maintain/enforce database Cybersecurity accesses controls at database and object level.

  • Setup and retain exclusive use of DBMS System Administration ID & privileges.

  • Define authorization requirements for users, roles, objects, etc., and approve Change Requests (CRs).

  • Manage database system availability and resource utilization including CPU, storage (allocated and used), and memory.

  • Manage Database Transaction Logs (active and inactive) archive and backup.

  • Manage physical DBMS configuration including database maintenance (running of appropriate utilities, jobs, scripts).

  • Manage and perform physical database maintenance (including running of appropriate utilities, jobs, scripts).

  • Create and manage database maintenance jobs to support optimization and systems and application performance.

  • Monitor growth/size of the physical database objects.

  • Perform database object reorganization, rebuild indexes, segment analysis, and statistics collection to improve performance, reclaim space, etc.

  • Plan and execute database data loads/exports/imports.

  • Implement, maintain, and perform failover or switchover for high availability databases (e.g., clustering).

  • Create component recovery plans.

  • Test component recovery plans.

  • Provide component recovery test results.

  • Review and approve component recovery plans for databases as required.

  • Perform database monitoring and alerting using agreed upon enterprise level tools and utilities.

  • Monitor and Configure Database Engines and Tools

  • Manage database system availability and resource utilization including CPU, storage (allocated and used), and memory.

  • Database Capacity Planning and Performance

  • Database Archiving and Restoring

  • Cybersecurity of Database Instances

  • Database Change Assessment and Implementation

  • Database Documentation and Account Management


Qualifications:
Required: 

  • Bachelors’ degree

  • Understanding of Database administration tools and technologies

  • Experience with Oracle and SQL database administration

  • Must be willing and able to obtain a NASA Public Trust Clearance (US Citizenship required)

  • Willingness to learn


Desired:

  • Prior hand-on IT delivery/support experience (including internships) with government customers
