IDEAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, a 121-year-old American-owned electric motor and generator manufacturer, is seeking a highly skilled NAVSEA-certified welder to join our electric motor manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in precision welding and will adhere to stringent quality and safety standards, particularly those set by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). This role involves welding components and assemblies used in electric motors, ensuring compliance with detailed specifications and rigorous quality control measures.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform various welding techniques, including TIG, MIG, and stick welding, on materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals used in electric motor manufacturing.
- Interpret and work from NAVSEA blueprints, technical drawings, and welding procedures.
- Ensure all welding activities meet NAVSEA, ASME, and facility-specific standards.
- Conduct precision welds on motor components, housings, and assemblies while maintaining structural integrity and dimensional accuracy.
- Perform routine inspections and testing of welds, including visual inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and other quality control measures.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to address and resolve welding-related issues.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper operation, calibration, and cleanliness.
- Document work progress and maintain detailed records in compliance with NAVSEA and facility standards.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of PPE, and participate in ongoing safety training.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; welding certification from an accredited program preferred.
- NAVSEA welding certification (or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire).
- Proficiency in TIG, MIG, and stick welding techniques, with a focus on precision and quality.
- Knowledge of NAVSEA welding standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Familiarity with electric motor components and manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience welding in an electric motor manufacturing or similar facility.
- Experience with non-destructive testing methods such as X-ray or ultrasonic testing.
- Familiarity with additional certifications such as ASME Section IX or AWS D1.1.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various positions, including standing, kneeling, and crouching.
- Ability to balance, and to climb to heights of up to 20 feet via ladders and scaffolding.
- Comfortable working in high-temperature environments with proper PPE.
- Dexterity to handle small components and perform detailed welding work.
- Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours per day/40 hours per week.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
