National Manager Business Performance

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity  

This is a significant opportunity to lead business performance across NZTA’s national land transport capital programme. Reporting to the Group General Manager Infrastructure Development and Delivery (IDD), you will help ensure investment decisions, delivery priorities and programme performance are informed by clear insight, sound planning and robust assurance.

You will lead a sizeable team that brings together business planning, performance reporting, portfolio insight, advanced analytics and internal assurance. The focus is on improving visibility of delivery performance, risks and opportunities, and supporting stronger forecasting, prioritisation and governance across the capital programme.

As a member of the IDD Group Leadership Team, you will provide system-level advice, help shape a clear infrastructure pipeline, and drive improvements that support delivery excellence and value for New Zealand.

To be successful in this role, you will bring: 

• Senior leadership experience in a large, complex organisation (or equivalent senior consulting experience), with the ability to turn strategy into clear priorities, plans and outcomes.

• Strong strategic, analytical and conceptual thinking, with experience using performance monitoring and reporting to support accountability and improvement.

• Confidence operating in complex governance and policy environments and aligning delivery with government expectations and outcomes.

• A track record leading change and continuous improvement that lifts performance and builds organisational capability.

• Proven ability to lead, influence and build credibility with a wide range of stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships and trust.

You'll demonstrate a willingness to understand and engage with Te Ao Māori, support NZTA's commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and contribute to an inclusive workplace where diverse perspectives strengthen decision-making.
