Our Opportunity
Our Fulton Hogan Infrastructure Services (FHIS) business currently have a position for a National Environment and Sustainability Manager - Infrastructure Services with flexibility to be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. Reporting to the National HSQE Manager – Infrastructure Services, you’ll be responsible for providing leadership for establishing and maintaining effective and sustainable Environment and Sustainability policies and practices for the Infrastructure Services business stream.
As a leader in the FHIS National team, you’ll maintain and cultivate relationships with Fulton Hogan Australia (FHA) Environmental and Sustainability Manager and other business stream leaders, ensuring FHIS’s alignment with FHA strategy while advocating for the FHIS business’s needs, interests, context and operating environment.
In this leadership position, you’ll focus on establishing and maintaining effective and sustainable environment and sustainability policies and practices, fostering a generative environmental protection culture, continuously improving environmental and sustainability performance and awareness, and ensuring a consistency of approach. You’ll play a crucial role in Fulton Hogan’s compliance with environmental standards, frameworks, and legislative requirements and where necessary, lobby on behalf of Fulton Hogan to present and represent the interests and perspective of the company.
An important component of this position is to actively engage with the business by conducting investigations and audits to ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability policies and practices and so, regular interstate travel is required in this role.
Some of your key accountabilities will be:
- Review and propose improvements for environmental and sustainability reporting to enhance risk profile management and secure FHIS Executive approval.
- Update the monthly FHIS Executive report to improve data accuracy, consistency, and actionable insights for resource deployment and improvements.
- Lead and coordinate statutory and sustainability reporting functions, including NPI and ABS reporting for the Infrastructure Services business stream.
- Chair the monthly National Environmental Managers meeting to facilitate effective communication between operational and support services, setting the agenda and reporting requirements.
- Act as the environmental lead in the national Fixed Plant Audit program.
- Develop and implement strategies with Regional Environmental Leads and the FHIS Communications Team to support FHIS Enviro Rules, including creating collateral materials.
- Manage, monitor, and report on the FHIS Sustainability Action Plan, review sustainability measures, set and review environmental targets, and manage SDS authoring requirements.
How you’ll connect to the role?
To be successful in this position, you will have a blend of technical, communication, analytical, leadership, and business skills. You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and have significant national industry experience in Environmental & Sustainability disciplines. You will demonstrate effective communication and negotiation abilities with senior management and diverse teams, exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Leadership capabilities are crucial, enabling you to form and implement strategies and build relationships across functions. Your ability to communicate effectively with executive management and senior customer representatives, identify and interpret key data insights, and deliver operational strategies will be vital. A collaborative approach to achieving business outcomes is highly valued.
Your technical expertise, combined with your ability to influence, negotiate, and your proactive nature will be key to your success in this role.
