The National Account Executive is responsible for the leading the business activities of the entire Eisai Inc. portfolio into the appropriate segments and channels across the defined Corporate Payer Accounts. The incumbent will be expected to create the appropriate segment and channel strategies and tactics in support of the Company’s Brand and commercial objectives and priorities in collaboration with Customer and Contracting and Pricing, Brand Marketing, Market Access, Health Economics and Clinical teams and others as may be necessary. This position will be a member of the Market Access Payer team and will work collaboratively with appropriate Eisai stakeholders regarding access and coverage issues, including Payer Markets, Market Access and Coverage Services, Sales, Marketing, Government Affairs, Legal, Compliance, Medical, and Training.
The incumbent is expected to be able to be the Company’s representative into the C-Suites of Corporate, Health System or Federal account customers, represent Eisai’s strategic interests with his/her field reports and create presence and appropriate relationships with customers. He/she is also expected to carry out channel and account specific plan of actions and to meet and/or exceed his/her performance measures. Account plans are expected to include a full range of strategies and tactics to create the most comprehensive approach possible while remaining fully compliant with Eisai policies. Relentless attention to account plan implementation with appropriate course correction is critical and expected behaviors.
Additionally, the incumbent must possess a deep expertise on the customer contract and deal continuum with proven abilities to successfully develop, negotiate and close contracts where appropriate. The incumbent will be responsible for contract negotiations at the National Level within the appropriate channel. This implies strong financial skills, experience in creating and evaluating proposed offers, understanding of non-financial terms and conditions, negotiation, and a clear understanding of walk away positions.
This is a field-based position.
Essential Functions
- Creation, implementation, and successful execution of customer and channel strategy
- Securing and/or advocating for product specific access objectives
- Business planning related to strategy, contracting, pricing as applicable across market access
- Collaboration with critical internal business partners (brand management, sales management, finance, pricing, federal government affairs, legal, compliance etc.)
- Customer engagement and field visits
- Cross functional business projects
- Monitoring the performance of our contracted products where so contracted
- When necessary, travel overnight including within the continental United States and to conferences, training, and meetings
Requirements
The candidate must possess a strong understanding of National Healthcare dynamics, contracting strategies and impact of contracting decisions across the Eisai portfolio. In addition to the qualifications and requirements noted previously solid business acumen and experience leading sales/account management teams is required.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) with 10+ years of pharma/commercial experience, with 5 years contracting and pricing experience preferred
- Excellent market, account, and customer knowledge
- Strong negotiating/influencing skills
- Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and deliver results
- Demonstrated ability to take charge, reach out to others to identify solutions and follow through to make things happen compliantly.
- Experience working with and existing relationships necessary for Corporate Payer
- Experience and expertise in specialty products, Oncology and Neurology
- History of consistently exceeding expectations for access targets
- Detailed knowledge in medical and pharmacy benefits and distribution within the healthcare system
- Strong business and analytical background
- Excellent business writing and presentation skills
Eisai Salary Transparency Language:
The base salary range for the National Account Executive - Field Based is from :189,900-249,300Under current guidelines, this position is eligible to participate in : Eisai Inc. Annual Incentive Plan & Eisai Inc. Long Term Incentive Plan.Final pay determinations will depend on various factors including but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, and skills.
