Manage all identified and prospective national accounts within the assigned territory with the objective of profitable revenue development.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct sales presentations to groups and/or individuals
  • Develop and follow a specific call agenda and enter calls and expense records timely
  • Provide timely and accurate information on rates and rate changes, improvements and enhancements in company service, new service offerings, new points serviced and account pricing when appropriate
  • Handle complaints expeditiously through appropriate channels
  • Coordinate and manage customer service requirements with their national account coordinator
  • Design solutions for specific customer transportation requirements and challenges
  • Analyze monthly account revenue as compared to account revenue goals
  • Schedule the time and make an effort to keep in frequent contact with your accounts in accordance with their potential and the company’s share of their business
  • Plan each weekly itinerary for the most cost/time effective and efficient coverage of the territory
  • Maintain records of assigned accounts, prospects and direct customer mailing lists
  • Initiate sales leads and answer assigned leads promptly
  • Promote company policies and the value proposition of Old Dominion’s service products
  • When required and/or appropriate, provide timely account updates to Senior Management
  • Consistently pursue new national account opportunities
  • Coordinate strategic account development efforts with Field Sales and Operations
  • Conduct Service Center and Corporate Office tours with existing and potential clients
  • Coordinate collections efforts with Accounts Receivable team
  • Facilitate claims resolution when required
  • Schedule and complete regular customer centric entertainments

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred

Experience:

  • 7 years of business to business sales experience in the transportation industry
  • Comprehensive understanding of company history, policies, organizational structure, pricing, and tariff rules, and company scope of operations and service capabilities
  • Knows our competitors’ services and policies, markets, and channels of distribution
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Salesforce
