Job Description
Handles a variety of coverage with a defined loss potential. Reviews and proceses claims of low to moderate face value or liability against policies and coverage information. Decision-making is structured and objective. Initiates necessary investigations. Exercises judgment to assign adjusters or to refer information to attorneys or subject-matter experts for additional data. Settles and negotiates claims within authorised authority.Job Description Summary
This role is responsible for investigations on behalf of the trustees of the Namibian Retirement Annuity Fund
(NARAF):
• Identify & trace dependents / nominees of the deceased member.
• Investigate the personal circumstances of these people.
• Make recommendations regarding the allocation & mode of payment of the death benefits.
This role requires knowledge of all matters / laws relating to Section 37C of the PF Act. The individual applies
this knowledge, skill & experience (acquired through specialization in this field) in an operational environment
through own efforts.
Duties and responsibilities.
Attends to the above duties in respect of all death claims received on policies owned by the NARAF by:
• Complying to the provisions of the Pension Funds Act and the Rules of the Fund.
• Ability to understand, interpret & apply various pieces of legislation to sets of facts.
• Probing skills & ability to interrogate information through professional interviews.
• Consistent compliant process execution through the exercise of discretion and sound judgment with
regards to investigations.
• Sound & defensible reasoning.
• Maintaining a tight case management audit trail in respect of all duties performed (which includes
formal report compilation for each case).
• Consults with the Death Benefit Allocation Specialists & liaison to the Death Claims Sub-committee
regarding complex and technical-legal matters.
• Ad hoc tasks.
Minimum Requirements...
• Namibian Citizenship.
• Matric (essential)
• Post-matric qualifications in administration, finance, or related field (advantageous)
• At least 2 years’ working knowledge iro Section 37C of the PF Act ito:
➢ Identification & investigation of dependents & nominees.
➢ Recommendations in respect of death benefit allocations & mode of payment.
• Knowledge of Old Mutual products and claim processes (e.g. Greenlight, Max Income, Max
Investment, OMP & Group Schemes) (advantageous)
• Familiarity with Old Mutual systems: AWD, BANCS, BIZAGI, CMOS, EMS, Omunet,
Outlook(advantageous)
• Computer literacy (MS Office) with accurate typing and disciplined document handling
• Call Centre experience
• Numerical accuracy and reconciliation skills (allocations, variances, and balancing)
• Critical thinking and anticipation – question assumptions, identify next steps, and pre-empt issues
• SLA discipline and throughput management – prioritize effectively in high-volume environments
• Case management excellence – clean case notes, evidence trails, and audit-ready documentation
• Stakeholder engagement – professional, empathetic, and clear communication
• Quality assurance compliance – use of Quality Tool and authorization protocols, “first-time-right”
mindset
