Job Description

The North America Acceptance Solutions Strategy Associate will be a key member of North America Acceptance Solutions Product Office, which is accountable for financial and operational performance of Acceptance Solutions in North America. 

This role will specifically be responsible for working with the head of Acceptance Solutions Strategy to understand the acceptance ecosystem in North America and key trends impacting its evolution, developing a strategy for how Visa can best develop a sustainable competitive position in this ecosystem, and help identify key go-to-market partners and potential M&A opportunities. 

This individual will work closely with other teams across the organization to understand client needs and drive prioritization of Acceptance Solution focus areas. This position is based in the San Francisco Bay area. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work on projects or workstreams related to Visa’s acceptance strategy in North America
  • Helping to build and maintain a robust perspective on how the acceptance ecosystem is evolving, including key trends, major sources of uncertainty, disruptive changes, regulatory impacts, etc.
  • Performing ongoing competitive intelligence to understand how Visa is positioned compared to other players in the space
  • Structure and solve a wide range of business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations.
  • Supporting Voice of the Customer activities to better understand how our clients view our offerings and corresponding opportunities
  • Support broader enterprise in articulating acceptance solutions strategy (e.g., marketing, external speaking arrangements, sales materials, etc.)
  • Develop rigorous, fact based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations. Ensure strategic and financial soundness and alignment for any recommendations
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to senior management, other executive, functional, or regional staff and management in a clear, concise and impactful way

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)


Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
  • 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
  • Typically requires 2 years total experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking or equivalent
  • Experience in and/or significant exposure to the payments industry not required, but a plus
  • Ability to independently contribute to projects with multiple workstreams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of functional business problems
  • Ability to structure and manage complex cross-enterprise projects and processes with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor, attention to detail and ability to structure and analyze sophisticated financial modeling
  • Experience working with economic theories, strategic and prioritization frameworks, scenarios analysis, and competitive assessments. Knowledge of payment industry revenue drivers a plus.
  • Personal presence and ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to senior stakeholders and external business partners
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility as a peer with functional and regional leaders within Visa
  • Commitment to continuous training and improvement of employees throughout the corporate strategy function
  • Self-starter, team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, with excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 117,600.00 to 146,150.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
