The Productivity/Risk position is to be filled by a recognized leader in the gas turbine business. This person will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives associated with balancing MYA Risk and Productivity programs. This role will have significant exposure to senior leadership across Engineering and Product line.
The MYA SIL will be responsible for full Productivity/Risk program ownership, and accountability for leading horizontally across the NPI Systems, Module Teams, Reliability and Power Generation Engineering teams. Additionally, in coordination with the Services Systems SIL’s and Platform Managers, the MYA SIL will make sure the programs are executed as per expected timeline and quality. The person will be a visible champion of the various MYA Systems processes.Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities:
MYA Systems Engineering is committed to balance the risk and productivity within the MYA business portfolio and creating new MYA productivity opportunities.
- Lead MYA Systems Engineering Programs execution, cradle-to-grave, including maintaining regular awareness of efforts across impacted teams/functions to ensure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, and responsiveness to business needs. Leverage Daily Management Lean principles.
- Identify new productvity opportunities across the MYA productivity portfolio and execute them to meet catalog timing. Lead customer communication discussions.
- Lead and support Engineering section of 7F and HA Outage Cost reduction - this involves TIL inspection hours reduction through elimination, descoping and fixing the AUL.
- Ideate and Lead Data Enabled break through programs.
- Support MYA Risk Modelers during Quarterly Margin Reviews.
- Has in-depth knowledge of best practices in the MYA business and its functions.
- Promote professional growth through coaching and mentoring of early-career engineers on the team.
- Partner with Controlled Title Holders, to ensure adherence to Catalog Life Substantiation Policy.
- Uses Engineering judgment to make decisions or solve complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk vs Reward trades.
- Develop strong collaborative relationships with interfacing teams (Customer Service Engineering, Product Line, Design, Controls, MP&E, Reliability, Repair, Services Business Line, Chief Engineers, etc.) to enable open, transparent communication and speed in cross-functional decision making.
- Incorporate lessons learned from validation, repair, and field experience to drive prioritization of the highest impact projects, coordinating across a cross-functional stakeholder team.
- Support & involvement in broad company-wide initiatives in support of GE Gas Power business objectives.
- Masters or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or Aerospace Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of Gas Turbine Design/Services/Systems engineering experience.
- Flexibility for 5% travel, including international.
- GT components design, repair and Services experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with a wide variety of organizations and individuals in global locations.
