You'll be at the center of our operation, helping drive a 24/7 news stream while making sure the newsroom stays connected, informed, and focused on the stories that matter most. This role is part coach, part editor, part conductor. You'll help reporters and MMJs tell stronger stories, make smart decisions in the moment, and find creative ways to connect our journalism with the communities we serve.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Serve as the central hub for information entering and leaving the newsroom, helping teams stay aligned on priorities and coverage plans.
  • Coach and develop reporters, MMJs, and content creators to elevate storytelling across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with newsroom leadership to execute audience-focused content strategies that deliver meaningful community impact.
  • Oversee story writing, editing, and publishing workflows across broadcast, digital, social, and streaming platforms.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback that drives continuous growth and stronger journalistic performance.
  • Develop and refine newsroom processes that improve efficiency, communication, and content execution.
  • Ensure all content meets the highest standards of journalistic ethics, editorial judgment, accuracy, and fairness.
  • Inspire trust and collaboration among reporters, photographers, producers, and newsroom staff.
  • Contribute to breaking news coverage and provide multi-platform reporting or on-air support when needed.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven or more years of newsroom, content leadership, digital media, streaming, or related experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading editorial decision-making and managing content workflows in a fast-paced news environment.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Deep expertise in digital journalism, streaming content strategy, and audience engagement.
  • Strong understanding of broadcast-style storytelling and how to adapt content across multiple platforms.
  • Exceptional editorial judgment and thorough knowledge of journalistic ethics, media law, and libel considerations.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence, mentor talent, and foster a culture of collaboration and growth.
  • Curiosity about the communities, cities, states, and world we cover every day.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize rapidly changing news situations.
  • A passion for innovation and finding new ways to tell stories that resonate with audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect teams around a common vision.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, early mornings, and holidays as newsroom needs require.
