Ideating and innovating on how to solve business problems leveraging various technologies is the cornerstone of the product development engineering team’s daily work. “Our team is given the freedom to bring forth ideas and marry them with our tech,” said Williams. “Innovation is not limited to any platform or process – the solutions we drive can be very diverse! You could be working on rolling out a new transaction in our chatbot, enabling a self-service capability that improves speed to market from three days to five minutes or moving a solution to Azure cloud.”

MetLife’s resources for staying informed of emerging tech has equipped Sail with a variety of ways to experiment and gain new skills. These resources include: MyPath, an internal forum in which employees identify compelling projects or seek to learn technologies; Pluralsight, an external resource which aids technologists in upskilling; Women in Tech, an internal community which strives to provide networking for the next generation of women leaders in tech; and the MetLife Sponsor program, which provided Sail with the opportunity to attend the Dale Carnegie Training Program. “This world-famous course gave me confidence to gain the command I needed both in my work as a technologist and my personal life,” she said.
