About the team and the role: 

The eBay Electronics team is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive and satisfying shopping experience by offering a wide selection of products, competitive prices, and reliable customer service. The eBay Electronics category is a vibrant and diverse segment of the e-commerce platform, dedicated to providing a wide range of electronic products to consumers. This category encompasses everything from the latest gadgets and innovative technology to essential home and office electronics.

We are seeking a Sr. Software Engineer who is passionate about using the latest technologies to bring our business forward. In this role, you will  work alongside the best and the brightest engineering talent in the industry. As a core participant of your team, you'll estimate engineering efforts, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and triage production issues. You need to be dynamic, collaborative, and curious as we build new experiences, improve existing products, and develop distributed systems powering the world's largest e-commerce websites at a scale few companies can match. 

What you will accomplish: 

• Build highly available, scalable user facing applications and RESTful /GraphQL APIs

• Build web technologies and services (e.g. Java/NodeJS/C++, etc.) along with browser technologies (Marko, React, Javascript, HTML, etc.)

• Mentor junior team members and ensuring they adhere to determined software quality standards

• Own major projects and features from design phase to coding, testing, deployment and support

• Develop technical & domain expertise and apply to solving product challenges

• Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and rollout system changes. Identify project technical risks and make recommendations to mitigate

What you will bring:

• A Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 7+ years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with 10+ years of experience with software design and development.

• Experience with Java, Scala, Oracle/NOSQL DBs

• Experience building web and RESTful and GraphQL applications.

• Strong applied experience. You've built, broken, and rebuilt software applications

• Experience working with frameworks such as Spring MVC

• Knowledge of core CS concepts such as common data structures and algorithms
