This role is a key technical leadership position responsible for defining the architecture and long-term strategy for Common Services firmware across multiple SSD product generations. You will guide critical architectural decisions, collaborate with experts across subject areas, mentor engineers, and help drive the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-assisted engineering practices. Your work will directly influence product quality, development efficiency, and future platform capabilities.
Responsibilities
  • Define and evolve Common Services firmware architecture and technical strategy across SSD products and storage platforms
  • Lead the design of embedded firmware solutions, establish engineering standards, and drive architectural decisions that improve performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Partner with hardware, silicon, software, and product teams to solve system-level challenges and optimize the storage stack
  • Communicate architecture plans, technical risks, and technology recommendations to engineering and business partners
  • Mentor senior engineers, promote engineering excellence, and lead adoption of AI-assisted development practices

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 7+ years of embedded firmware development experience with architectural ownership and technical leadership in the storage or semiconductor industry
  • 3+ years of SSD industry experience with expertise in Common Services firmware, ARC processors, compilers, and build environments
  • Expert-level proficiency in C and/or Rust and deep knowledge of PCIe/NVMe storage architectures
  • Experience working across hardware, silicon, system software, and product teams to deliver complex technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience defining firmware architecture and long-term technical strategy across product platforms or organizations
  • Expertise in firmware performance analysis, optimization, benchmarking, and system-level debugging
  • Experience with RISC-V processors, Python-based automation, and embedded systems spanning hardware through application layers
  • Track record of technical innovation demonstrated through patents, publications, standards contributions, or conference presentations
  • Experience evaluating and applying AI and machine learning technologies to improve engineering productivity, product quality, or product capabilities

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$175,000.00 - $307,000.00 a year
Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
